He is leading up to a meet and this was his last heavy squat session which means that lift was about 85% to 90% of a 103% to 105% PR, in short that is his opening weight not a 1rm.

I see 1000lb with this guy at his next meet with how he just blew up 975, he opens with that then goes for 1000 I bet.

I can't even comment. I have no idea what kind of jumps you take between attempts when you are working with that kind of weight. I'm still at a point where a 40lb jump for me isn't bad.

When Hoss squatted 1025 single ply this was the attemps

1st 954
2nd 1003
3rd 1025

So I would think a 25lb jump would not be an issue raw.

The factor is to worry about 1000 then go for more but if you can smash 975 like that then you open with that giving you 2 attempts at 1000, this is how it makes sense to me and from what I have seen from other big lifters.
