Blood pressure monitors

Friends,

I am looking to start monitoring my blood pressure at home. After browsing the internet there are so many monitors out there to choose from that I'm clueless as to which one to get. I know many of you guys do it yourself so this is the perfect place to ask. Any suggestions as to which one I should get?

I just use the old school sphygmomanometer...i dont trust most other ones

They make ones that are for manual use (by yourself or whatever you wanna call it)...where you need to only use one arm since you do need to keep the arm with the cuff relaxed.

Unlike the one above I posted...this one has the stethoscope connected in the cuff so you do not need to hold it.

my two cents, make sure you use the correct cuff. Too often medical assistants use the wrong size cuff.

I bought one at Sam's club. I think I paid around $50. It's the OMRON. It works well and come with a large cuff for my little bitch arms.
Overall I'm very happy with it. It gives good readings. If I test three times in a row, it doesn't give the exact same reading but all three will be very close.

^^Yep, all the Docs, Specialist's I see use the automatic ones. I bought my at walgreens and had my doubts to its accuracy . I had it tested against the old school sphyfawatayacallit and they were spot on

I have been doing it for year and have a machine dead on to the hospital even manually.

Always get the one for the upper arm!

This is fact because too small (tight) = too high of a reading.

I got mine at Costco, it came with 2 cuffs. The big one fits OK but I only have about 16" arms. Still coming back from a torn tendon - and I'm a pre-op TG

That's how mine is set up , it takes 3 readings and gives you the average.
