I am going to construct a small jig to fit a 10ml(or whatever size) syringe, with plunger handle extending into plastic pipe.
Plastic pipe will be secured to holder.
I will have a rod through the pipe that makes contact with plunger thumb top in tube.
I will have a flat flange at top of rod where I can secure a 5-10lbs weight on top.
This will apply slow constant pressure to plunger. Then you can get a workout in while it filters.
I use bottle top filters as well.
However, if running test blends, small amounts... can test how it pins/pip.

If your dead set on syringe filters, would make it easy.

Did this awhile back. Posted in another forum I frequent, thought I would share here.
Still holding two weeks later.

Innovative setup you got there, a caulk gun is the usual go to route for hand filtering from what I've seen

I see what you did there lol. I always mention slin pins. I should probably make it my signature.

There is a method though.
I draw back all the way to 100iu, hold till it fills to 90iu, then slightly pull back and forth and it will stick and hold suction when you let go of plunger rod. I then set the vial with needle inside on this platform that only makes contact with vial, slin pin hanging down. It fills why I do other stuff, like watch it slowly fill lol.

I unscrew syringe filter, and draw back to remove plunger, then back fill, put plunger back in.
There is a small pocket of air between oil and plunger. This pocket removesmost oil from filter as it pushes through.
You can't draw back unless you remove the filter. To get out remaining oil from filter, unscrew filter, remove plunger, screw filter back on, put plunger back in without backfilling (nothing but air in syringe) and the air will push out all remaining oil. There may be a couple of drops to the oil gods.
PS: I pin it with a 29g 1/2" slin pin brah

For gods sake broths.. Why arent you using the vacuum pump method? putting all that power against the membrane of the .45u Whatman syringe filter is going to destroy it and contaminate it.

Vacume pumps literally finish this job in minutes... :D

It's a test run of 30ml.
No need to waste one of my bottle top filters.
I have vacuum pump filtration.

It's 3lbs (also used 5lbs) constant pressure, not heavy at all. Using your thumb would create a higher pressure, but not sustainable due to fatigue.

It's 0.2um.

I see.
Yeah. Great job man.
No need wasting a vacuum pump filter and container on only 30ml. Just shoot it through a good ole syringe filter like this.. save the thumb and save the money.. setup looks great. I love that you kept the pressure low enough that the membrane in the filter is safe from crashing. 0.2um, nice choice. Did you go Whatman or what brand of filter did you choose?
