Losing Traditions

Driving downtown this Christmas is like any other day or Season. The street poles once decorated with red & green tinsel, candy canes and lights stand baron. The park has no tree, has no wreaths, nothing to indicate Christmas.

How many years has Happy Holidays replaced Merry Christmas (so some religious whack job isn't offended) and now Christmas decorations are offensive too?

So let's get this straight. It's okay to offend My Tradition by removing it, so that some other group (fucking whiners) are not offended.

btw........... MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I put my lights out and my wife got the inside all decorated out. No lack of Christmas spirit at my house. And yes I'll going to church... pretty sure that's where it all started in the first place.

They can't even talk about it in the kids schools anymore... man when I was a kid we had a whole fucking month of making trees and gifts for our parents and gluing together the chains of paper to ear one off each day of the month. If you were jewish you could make it fit your thing too... we didn't care and nobody complained. I hope there are still some schools like this.

Yeah brother unfortunately, last week my son (7yrs old, 1st grade) was telling my wife he doesn't like his school or teacher because they didn't put anything out for decorations. Just like PFM said, just like another other day........

I agree, there is a huge double standard there. Christmas is an American tradition that transcends religion. I've probably been to church 5 times in my life, but every year my family decorates like crazy, we all buy presents for everyone important in our lives, and on Christmas day we spend the whole day together as a family, play games, eat a big meal, and watch "The Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott. For me it has very little to do with Christianity and everything to do with tradition and getting the family together. And that is what this generation will miss out on if we let the tradition lose importance in their eyes, or teach our kids that Christmas is a bad word that offends people.

Well, I got a big fat fucking Christmas tree in the middle of my living room. I love the smell of the tree. Kinda hard to watch football thru the middle of the tree... Oh well I still love it!

No Christmas... Yet they teach alternative lifestyles in school? I'm not religious at all, but if someone want to celebrate Xmas then so b it. Liberal America Is ridiculous. My dad has a son I have never met but he can't send him Xmas cards cuz his mom is Jewish and she doesn't support that. But yet she says she is gonna let him grow up to make his own decisions.

Yeah I get to see all my relatives. I get excited cause most of them I enjoy being with. I want to make the most of bit cause its one of the only times we all get together. My dad is one of 7 so it gets tough to get everyone together. My grandparents are 80 so you know the deal. You know what they say. You can't pick your family but you can pick your friends. I was pretty much raised by my mother. Love her to death cause she tried to give me the best life she could. She worked two jobs and thats what made me turn into a Mommas boy. I'm def a Mommas boy. Last Xmas was tough cause she had a stroke a week before and now she is permantly blind in one eye.

I remember her being in icu for two weeks straight during Xmas. Her bp was like 220/120 or something insane like that.

The PC crap is so out of hand it's insane. I went in to get blood work done on Monday morning and when I was leaving I told the lady Merry Christmas and she thanked me. I said "for what" and she told me that people don't say it anymore. She said occasionally people we tell her seasons greetings.....what the fuck does that even mean?
I told her I'm going to keep saying it until they put me down for the long dirt nap.
