So my wife was diagnosed with this and now has to wait until May to see a specialist. From what I read online they're going to recommend T3 or T4. She's tired a lot, low sex drive, difficulty losing weight, lack of motivation, etc. Why can't I just get some OTC T3 and have her start taking it? Would that work? Can't hurt right?

T3 requires a prescription - it is not available OTC. You have to be careful with thyroid medication as you need to find the optimal dosage.

Have you tried looking for another endo that can get her in sooner?

My GF has the same issue. She had a prescription but moved and new doc wanted to go through all kinds of testing to renew the script. I found a European parmacy that sold legit name brand synthroid and ordered her a years supply.

I would suggest Armour over a synthetic T3 product.....Its natural and has less sides, and by natural I do not mean u dont need a prescription, u will need a prescription for this item....

My wife was diagnoised with Graves disease, she didn't know why she was tired all the time, and it took her OBGYN at her annual that said something to her when he noticed her eye's starting to buldge, of course I couldn't say anything because it was just lack of sleep she said and I'm an asshole. By the time it was remedied damage had been done and she used to have the most beautiful eye's now they're all ****ed up. She could get surgery to have her orbital sockets opened up, and everytime I bring it up saying insurance will cover it because long term your going to start to have vision problems due to stress on optic nerve, I get yelled at more.

So yeah, see if you can get in sooner than later. She will forever be on some sort of med, depending on how bad she made have to have thyroid killed off all together, that's where my wife ended up because they were having issues with labs being all over so they just 86'd her thyroid so they had total control with meds. Then it takes a long time to dial it in, and she wont like the side effects of too high/too low, and the hardest part is levels depend upon activity, so if she's more active she will require more meds, less active, less meds...very hard/damn near impossible to say "THIS" is what you need to take daily, just because of outside stress factors play a huge role in hormones needed everyday, and the sling shot effect of them.

Good luck brother, just another disease/thing I wouldn't wish on anybody.

Mrs Bug was diagnosed while we were high school with this. She has struggled with weight loss all of her life. In march of 2015, she said "fck it" and started lifting weights instead of focusing on cardio for weight loss. That combined with proper nutrition, has turned her into what I like to call a beast in the gym.

She has her yearly bloods drawn for the thyroid and keeps it in check. We've discussed trying some self meds but have always steered clear due to how fast she starts to feel like shit when her numbers get out of whack.

I'm interested in your experience so if you'll keep us updated, I'd appreciate it

My wife also was diagnosed with Graves' disease. Luckily they caught it early on and didn't have any permanent damage. She is only 5'0" and weighs 105lbs. When she started to notice something was wrong her heart was about to beat out of her chest and got down to 93lbs. So basically she had hyperthyroidism and she had to take radioactive iodin. It was too much and it killed her entire thyroid which sent her into hypothyroidism. She gained a lot of weight for her and that ass was popin out of her pants. Sexy as hell if you ask me, but they finally got it dialed in and now everything is great. So I would suggest like others to get an earlier appointment and not mess around on your own about t3 or t4. It's hard to dial it in correctly and blood drawls are the only way to achieve it.

Mom and sister have hashimotos, brother just got diahnosed w graves after a week stay in the hospital, jacked him up badly i guess,

So far ive been good

Check into the

Stop the thyroid maddness web site and facebook group they advocate taking other stuff instead of t3 or t4, there is a cascade that occurs when u take either one and it effects all sorts of other hormones that have to also be regulated

Chexk into the stop the thyroid maddness and it might help a bit for anyone dealing w thyroid issues
