Doing HIIT on a treadmill.

How are you all doing HIIT on the treadmill? I recently switched up my cardio from LISS to some type of HIIT about a month ago. I've always heard you need to full out sprint but the treadmills at my gym can only go up to 11mph. I don't have any parks or anything remotely close to me and the gym is where I need to get it done. What I've been doing is warming up for a few minutes and then running at 11mph for 30 seconds and then walking at 2.8 for about 90 seconds or so until my heart rate comes back down to about 130ish. I do this for 20 minutes. my body seems to be responding well to it but looking for suggestions from others who do HIIT on a treadmill.

Sometimes I'll go at a leisurely jog at no incline for a minute, up the incline for a minute, then up the speed and the incline for a minute. 5 or 6 rounds of that after weight training generally finishes me off pretty good.

I would think 11mph would be fast enough. What I use to do was sprint one tenth of a mile then slow down to 3mph or so and walk one tenth. I would do this usually for 2 miles

Does your gym have a parking lot? Do it there.

If not then a bike machine, rower, or elliptical are all better than treadmill for HIIT.

Last time I did hiit, I spent the night in jail and had to pay 5,000 in restitution.

Seriously though, 11mph should be plenty fast enough to get your heart rate up.
