I’m 6 feet tall and 190. I’ve been lifting my whole life and I’m 33 years old. I have good muscle tone but damned if I can get to 200 and stay there. Metabolism kills me

Consume more calories than you burn. If not gaining, consume even more. Welcome to the UG.

I remember a time when I wanted to get bigger and hit that 200lb Mark. I was a lot younger then 33 years old. Same thing, blamed it on my metabolism. Finally realized chicken breast and vegetables wasn't going to get me there. That's when I started really eating. Caloric dense foods with hardcore compound lifting is what got me over the 200lb. You weigh 190 and want to get to 200lbs? Stop eating like you weigh 190 and start eating like you weigh 200

I was the same way. I didn't hit 200 pounds until well into my 40's. And I ate EVERYTHING. I even owned a few restaurants over the years so carb food was aplenty. Keep eating big and keep lifting big. At some point - for me it was around age 44 - your metabolism will slow down a bit and allow you to not have to eat as much to pack on the weight.

Welcome. Im the same height and natural size as you, maybe smaller, but im 6ft. Same as you, it seemed impossible to get to 200 lbs. I had pretty much given up, when I finally decided to trust these guys here on the board and significantly increase my calories... By like 1500-2000 calories... I basically doubled my daily caloric intake.... And strangest thing happened, I gained over 40 lbs, and got up tp 213lbs... All within a couple years of eating seriously. If you want to gain weight and become a monster, you gotta eat like a monster.

I can’t offer any advice as I’m on the opposite end off the spectrum. I haven’t seen 200lbs since the 6th grade, but welcome aboard!

OP, first off welcome to UGB.

A decent read HERE that covers some specifics of eating for mass gain, as well as a calculator to help ye find yer TDEE & some thoughts on macros.

Cheers,

- Savage
