Is anyone here using or have used salt tablets? If so are they beneficial in dropping weight or adding lean muscle or how about preventing cramps and spasms?

The body is very good at regulating the amount in the body, so unless you eat practically no processed foods, don't add any salt to your diet, and sweat a lot during exercise, I don't think that it's necessary.

I just checked the results on sodium on my fitness pal and I went over the intake on the sodium yesterday, compared to the day before so I think I need to keep it check better the rest of the week. No scratch that, I actually got in less than required, yesterday. I haven't had any cramps this week so I the sodium intake is well right now.

drink a couple ounces of pickle juice.. helps sodium and hydration. they make a little vial shot of it in the supplement section. it rids my charley horse problems!

As you start to eat better Grizz, your sodium intake is going to come down naturally, by replacing convenience foods with real foods. I wouldn't worry about it too much at this point, you're on the right path.

Will sodium tabs help drop weight or gain muscle? Of course not! And it will only help your cramps if it's caused by a sodium imbalance.

Paterno used to have the nittany lions drink pickle juice before games. Seemed to work.

Put your mental energy into preparing your meals ahead of time. Little details like salt tablets are the last thing to think about. Plus the only thing they’re good for is what POB said.

Better yet, guess the calories of any food you eat before double checking on MyFitnessPal. If you ever get really surprised by a number, start eliminating it from your diet. Focus on establishing the basic habits and control.

if you focus to much on tiny details you’ll burn out long before you establish the “lifestyle” habits. (I have to mention that since Jen is no longer around)

I think the general thing with you is to focus on the basics and not to worry yourself over minute details.

Like you guys said a few days ago on my log, I've been keeping the food simple and dumb. It's gotten a lot easier since day 1 of logging the food and stuff. I'm down to 227 lbs since last friday in which I weighed 336.
