Hey everyone,

I was wondering how tired you “should” feel when your in a calorie deficit. I’ve been trying to lose a little body fat..... again. So I looked up my macros and calories. For my activity level and workout regime the calories came out to 2100. I’ve been around 1950 everyday.

But today I noticed during my workout (calisthenics) I was real low on energy. The reason I was under the 2100 is because I have a slow metabolism and was concerned that was too high with my current low activity level. But I’m thinking of moving my calories up to 2050.

current setup and weight:

bw I think is around 228-230

calories 1950
protein 150-170 grams
carbohydrate 120-200 grams
fat 80-120 grams

I don't feel sluggish until I work into a 1000 Cal deficit or lower, or am lowering the carbs. I can be on a 500 Cal deficit and low carbing and feel dead on my feet.

I'd more than likely say that, since 120-200g of carbs is pretty low, that may be what's causing the lack of steam.

Like mentioned above, carbs is the key for energy. You can try eating the majority of your carbs an hour or so before your workouts and see how that works.

You aren't in enough of a deficit for your total calories to be a problem IF the TDE that you posted is correct.

Hey everyone thanks for the response.

the 2100 calories was suggested for weight loss and was done from a calorie calculator. I’m sorry for not putting that. I think my maintenance calories are about 2500.

So maybe if I go up to 2050 calories I can make the extra 100 calories (previous 1950) carbohydrates?

I don't really feel it on a 400 deficit until my body weights gets low. Could be other factors that are hitting ya. Also, regardless of what you read on the back of a package or weigh out, there's some error in your total cals in; even your out for that matter.

Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you. The good part, you got the job done and that's what counts.

Id make sure to eat a big part of your carb intake a hour or two before your workout!
I'm in the process of getting the majority of my carbs from vegetables. But before I train i gotta eat oatmeal w a banana to fuel my workout!
