My 1/2 of beef just show up today. This was off a farmer buddy I know but like any farmer, a pain in the ass to deal with. I hate not having a number to start with, everything is an "About". Average weight on the hoof is "About", that should hang "About", butchering is "About" and should yield "About" X number of lbs cut weight.

After all is said and done, I walked away with 265 lbs of meat, not including dog bones for $1,540; about 5.80/lb. That's about what 80/20 burger in the store is going for right now in these crazy times, if you can even find it. Don't forget, this is also 5.80/lb for all your steak cuts and roasts too. I didn't weigh it out but there should be a little over 100 lbs of burger and 165 lbs of prime cut beef.

There's probably a good 150-200 lbs of pork left from my pigs in the freezers so I'm not buying meat anytime soon. This type of thing isn't for the average family of 3 but if you have an army of growing young men, it's something to consider. Some farmers will do a 1/4 beef but you need to wait until 3 other people show up and may run a little more per lb.

Oh and if you're considering a home invasion for my meat, please try, I still have room for ya in another freezer. :32 (18):

Get ya a nice deer to add to the freezer! That 1/2 beef sounds wonderful.
