Expanding on what we know about hematocrit also known as HCT or polycythemia and last weeks topic
How different steroids impact hematocrit
I would like to discuss what remedies beyond blood donation and phlebotomy our members use to reduce hematocrit levels.

I have heard grapefruit is beneficial in lowering HCT. Has anybody tried this?

Some will use a baby aspirin daily while on cycle to counter the effects of high HCT. Have you tried this?

I have heard IP6 and Enalapril have been used successfully to lower hematocrit.

What other remedies do you employ to contain or lower your Hematocrit levels while on a cycle?

I recently read a thread on another website that intense cardio will bring HCT down via exercise induced anemia. Does this make sense to you? How?

Lets discuss....

As far as I always was told, grapefruit is marginal, and the only thing that actually works in blood letting.

The baby aspirin will help keep your blood thin, and lessen the risk, so to speak, of high crit. Cialis can be similar from what I know, which is good because I can't take aspirin. That said, the best bet is to bleed those RBC's out and do everything you can to stay in range. You don't want to have sludge for blood running through your veins.

Typical protocol for blood donation is 56 days between donations. For you users with very high HCT levels have you tried using two separate blood donation organizations that do not cross check? Does such a thing exist?

I go to the Red Cross and then you can find a private blood bank, or I go to the children’s hospital in my area. And they’re completely separate. Then I can donate once a month if necessary. If you’re very high - like 56 or over, I’d do the same thing but with double red. Mugs - I could have sworn I saw you say you were at 59 or something crazy. You got to take care of that shit so you don’t stroke out.

Do the back to back double Red. Do one, wait a month, do the next. Then stay on trt until that first 4 months is up. Then you can start blasting again, and do whole blood donations once a month to keep in check if you can find 2 places like I mentioned.

I’ve done some pretty hard core shit, but I’m not hard core enough to stick my own vein and bleed myself.

option B is if you have a trusted nurse friend or someone like that Who would bleed you at home.

I haven't taken more than 160mg/week test in the last 6 months, and just had mine checked at 49, which is pretty high for just a moderate TRT dose I think. I do a LOT of intense cardio...I don't have a control but I can't imagine it makes much of a difference. It might make your mortality rate better if something were to happen, but I'm not sure it lowers the actual ratio.

I'll apologize in advance for the broscience...just sharing my experience. You can sort out what you want from it.

swanson fruit flow circulatary is supposed to be a good one to add (lycopene) https://www.amazon.com/Swanson-Fruitflow-Circulatory-Formula-Milligrams/dp/B005JQU4CO
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5334395/

narnagin, grape fruit seed extract, grapeseed, all supposedly can or might help, all based on individual...

be caustious as those may raise medicines in the body....

lower dosages, time off, pct's might also help as well as some have gone down the 10mlg per day of test for trt.... ive alo heard of people completly lowering their dosages of all chemicals and pinning them daily to see if that will help the ol thickening of the blood

The most overlooked and easiest way to control your hematocrit is Water or just staying hydrated. I know for a fact that drinking a gallon of water before you go to donate will bring your numbers down, or give a somewhat false reading.

DEHYDRATION IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF HIGH hematocrit. As the volume of fluid in the blood drops, the RBCs per volume of fluid artificially rises; with adequate fluid intake, the hematocrit returns to normal.

Not sure thats the point here. I dont want a false reading or just a lower reading before donating. I want a lower "real" reading. I cant go to the Red Cross because of High HCT. I have to go with option B, and that is not my favorite.

I've donated with red cross in the past, but now I use my community blood drive. Red Cross called asking for my donation yesterday with no knowledge of me using my community drive. So, it seems those don't cross check.

I donate normally every 3-4 months and my iron is on the higher side of the specteum. So, I do double reds now like DYS mentioned.

Lol you will have a lower REAL reading 10 minutes after the donation? What’s your point? Staying hydrated will keep your levels low in general. I didn’t just lake this up!

My point is that the OP was asking for Home remedies that we have tried to lower polycythemia. Drinking water and going to the Red Cross is a given. I didnt say you just "laked" it up. If your HCT level is in the upper 50's you can drink all the water you want and you wont get your levels down to an acceptable level. No need for the attitude.

Yea it will!! Your are knocking something you have never tried which makes no sense! Drinking two gallons of water right before the donation will give a false low reading, meaning you won’t ever be denied! Therefore you will be free to donate anytime you want. It will easily bring a 55 down to a 47 just from the water. I’ve been doing this for almost 10 Years! If you think draining your own blood is a better idea, lol have at it!

I have been blackballed by the Red Cross because of other issues. Do you know how that works? Once you are on the list you dont get off it. I dont believe I was knocking anything. Believe me if I could solve this problem with simply drinking water I would. I am not stupid. Dont tell me I havent tried it because I have. Draining blood wont even bring your HCT 12 points but drinking water can? I was just making a point that your comment wasnt what the OP was asking. Everyone can drink water, and if drinking water was the solution to this issue, it wouldnt even be a topic here.

Dude you are missing the entire point. DRINKING TWO GALLONS OF WATER RIGHT BEFORE YOU DONATE GIVES A READING LOWER THEN IT ACTUALLY IS. Which enables you to donate at that EXACT MOMENT. I never said just drinking water will lower someone’s High HCT That has been lazily ignored. It’s something you need to stay on top of.

Here was the OPs question: (beyond blood donation and phlebotomy)

How different steroids impact hematocrit I would like to discuss what remedies beyond blood donation and phlebotomy our members use to reduce hematocrit levels.

My blood specialist will have me do medical phlebotomy every 7 days for 3 weeks to really get it down then several weeks of rest. I take a low dose aspirin daily. Unfortunately spilling 1700cc of blood in 3 weeks does a hard number on your iron.
