We have gone through 3 deer and a pig each year for the past 3 years (wife and 2 kids). Sometimes I supplement with store bought meat, but not often.

We buy chicken and seafood from the store. I haven't been prioritizing fishing the past few years.

I can do back strap depending on how I cook it but I cannot stand the taste of ground venison in anything but chili. I wish I could. I usually get way to much summer sausage, jerky sticks and jerky when I process so it always costs a lot.

if you could process it yourself it would be almost free. I’ll spend way to much at the meat locker...like 220+depending on how much of the tasty stuff I get.

I hunt public land, and I don't spend much money on gear because I've had pretty much everything I need for a while now.

The meat processing is my only significant expense. I just don't have time to do it myself. I have friends who process their own deer though.

Chicken is like $7 a pound at Whole Foods. That’s the cheaper version too

Buy y’all live in expensive places. I can go to the local butcher shop here and get chicken breast 2.99lb and beef 80/20 3.99lb.
