Phone addiction

If you have a loved one addicted to their phone ask them to switch their phone to grey scale for a week to see how it goes. I have been trying it these past few days and have noticed my brain doesn’t really light up anymore when I screw around with my phone. It’s been an interesting experiment and this article gave me the idea . If you try it, let me know what you think.

Actually a great idea for me right now. I was laid off a couple months ago and the weekly metrics for how often I’m on my phone each day has gone up more than I’d like to say. I know it plays into psychological health as well.

I broke my phone last week and had to wait 2 days for the insurance to send a new one.
It was weird af at first because its my go to whenever I have down time. I watch a few podcasts regularly and follow a couple guys on youtube.
I was surprisingly ok with it, and when my new phone came I didn't even rush to go get it, nor did I rush to set it up when I got it.
It was a nice little break but now I'm back to my same old shit lol

I'm only halfway through, but it has caused me to be more aware of the bad side of these phones, especially with 2 teenagers at home. My daughter LITERALLY cried once when I said that we were going a weekend without electronics when we took a mini vacation. I couldn't believe it!!!!

Anyway, I don't even have FB installed on my phone, yet it sends me notifications every now and then. Since starting the movie, I've ignored the notifications, and they've come MORE FREQUENTLY than before, even though nothing has changed. Same notification.

IT'S like fukkin dangling a shiner in front of a bass... You want this, you know you do. One little bite.... HOOKED!!!!

And yes, these damn phones ARE listening to us.

Whenever my lady and I have a conversation, whatever we were talking about "magically" starts to show up all over the place on our phones, via ads or suggested videos.

It's crazy!!!

I don't think my generation struggles with it as much as the current generation. The kids CANNOT put that thing down, which also makes it a handy tool when doling out punishments as a parent.

I am not addicted to the phone but I have no data plan, no games on the phone and I have no social media at all.
I basically use google maps and txt people.
It almost feels like having a super power in 2020 by not having social media. Intelligence is an interaction between the brain, body and environment and most people are self creating the most stupefying environment possible.
I have read 14 books this year instead reading my aunt's retarded opinions on Trump. You literally couldn't pay me a monthly fee to have social media.

If my job did not require it, not having a smart phone would be a great option for me as well. However, Google maps does not work if you don't have a data plan unless you're doing it on wifi before you leave.

Before I partially retired I was on my phone continuously and wife was always on me..now I rarely carry it and she is still on me lol

Grayscale is really a smart idea especially considering the brightness and blue light emitted literally keeps our minds stimulated. Also social media is designed (as I’m sure you all know) keep you engaged as much as possibly as well as stimulate dopamine receptors in the brain. Most everyone is addicted at this point and will only keep growing especially with the newest generation of kids starting off their lives with new tech earlier than any of us.
