It's muh mufuckin birthday today. The dirty 30. I'll be looking for my presents in the mail and cock pics in my inbox lol

Really just wanted to post because I buried one of my buddies 2 days ago. He was a Specialist in the Army posted at Ft Bragg. He was 27 yrs old, wife, 1.5 year old son and a 3 week yr old daughter. He was a brother, son, father, uncle, friend, and a war hero. He was a 2 time purple heart recipient, one in Iraq where his best friend died next to him. Thier hum v got blown up by and IED. And another in afghanistan where he got hit again with an IED. After the first one his mind wasn't right. He lost it. You could see it in his eyes. He had brain trauma but the Army shipped him off for another tour. All while being charged with larceny for not wanting to pay for a required tool set which he never took off base. So they ship him off, he gets blown up again, send him home. Doctor him up. The day he died he was diagnosed with dementia. 27 years old and has dementia! So instead of making sure this war hero 's health is taken care of they ship him off after the first time and want to court Marshall him but postpone it so he can go risk his life which he almost lost once again. Dude lost it. He was getting court marshalled next week, losing his pension, benefits, everything. He served 8 years and they were gonna court Marshall him for a $1700 tool kit with 2 babies and a wife at home. Court marshalled from the military? You mind as well have violent felonies trying to get a job. Tragically he took matters into his own hands. Killed his commanding officer and himself at a safety briefing on base. Just an all around tragedy. I just wanted to post to say thank you for those that served and are serving now. I hope when people say "We support our troops" events like this come to mind. We gotta do something so our boys that risk thier lives for each of us are really taken care of because the way I see it, the government treats them like disposable robots. It's a fucking sham and I know he's not the first one this has happened to no way. RIP Spc. Ricky Elder. You'll live on with us forever.

Sorry to hear about your boy, Colt. As you said, he will live forever in your heart. Don't get me started on the lackluster performance of our federal government with respect to taking care of our vets. One of my best friends and stepbrother both have PTSD from Iraq. Being a soldier can be one of the most heroic, responsible jobs one could ever have- I think we need to recognize that. Thanks for sharing about your friend.

Waoo Colt this is a shockiing story, I know how you feel right now and I know well what this HERO went thru. The Armed Forces in general has become a political stage for some bastards make more money and pretend they are for us ( the military ) I know and retty sure Lulu, Inf dark Zeek and so many others Combat Vet here feel the same way I do. The Gov needs to look at what the Commanders are doing with us, how they fuck up our credits, our menthal health and even hurts our family but no one wants to take responsability about it and call this the "SYSTEM" but in reality is the Higher who runs shit on their own. More than that even now if a Soldier is seeking for menthal health he can face chapter out cause he or she are no capable to do their job and the only need the Commander to call the Dr and ask for his signature in a paper work and the Service member is out and may lost everything. Is this what is all about?? What they really care about us or our fam?? You guys answer this to me and make your own judegement on this. I Respect you a lot Colt but now is something more that makes me Admire you cause the way you express yourself about Vets. Thank you for posting and share this with us. R.I.P. to another Hero destroyed from the wondeds of a political war.

Whoa. Brother, that's the kind of heavy stuff that no words can lift but my heart goes out to you and everyone who knew him. I know the "mindgame" is real...wish more people understood your mind, just like your body, can get seriously out of whack through no fault of your own. I've also seen the change war can do to a guy...a buddy of mine did a couple tours over there as a sniper. He's not "broke" or unstable but the Bobby that left isn't coming back.

I don't care what political vein you run in...I don't care if you support ot oppose a war/conflict/whatever. The boys and girls who are out there doing their jobs get the highest respect. PERIOD.

Just a shame all the way around bud.

I'm really sorry to hear about thus bro... a couple guys i knew from growing up and a couple guys i served with just lost it from the stressful environment in general. If the military gets a way about you they can make it hell and I know my little bro say they were just kicking people out of the navy months short of getting full retirement for stupid little things that aren't on the offense books. War is hard in general... EVEN if you're not fighting... pay some fucking respect to hose who risk it all.
Prayers going out to your bro and all in mourning from this tragedy

Not even sure what to say bro... I guess the Irish in me comes out at times like these. We don't mourn, but remember and celebrate the life.

Maybe consider starting a college fund for the kid left behind. That child will need every opportunity to succeed. A small fundraiser held annually would change that kids life drastically down the road.

Sorry to about your loss bro.

In this business we are just numbers. They will swear up and down they care about the soldiers and their families, but thats all bullshit. Today's command phylosophy is "check the block, and cover your ass"... Its sad to say it, but story is repeating itself. Back in the vietnam era, soldiers came home and got called baby killers and shit like that. This time we are not getting called baby killers, but our leadership is been put against the wall with all these troop and budget cuts, that many good soldiers are getting trown out for stupid reasons, and stripping them of any benefit they can. This shit has come to the point were we feel safer outside the wire, with the "enemy" waiting to get shot at or blown up any time, then with the leaders that are supposed to be there to watch your back and take care of you.

I see SPC Elder as a hero. One of the few that have been able to deliver a clear message, that our armed forces are broken from within. Att thanks to the leaders of our great nation.

Hate to say it, but shit is just going to get worst.

Bro, this is the way of uncle sam. As soon as you get back from deployment, and try to get help for your problems, they always 100% throw you under the bus. When your deployed, your expendable to them. No shit, I've been told this by several higher ups. The main mission for them is to get the job done, and they could give a fuck less about how many guys they lose, because they dont even go outside the wire to fight. When we lose our buddies its exactly that, friends and brothers. To them its just another guy that fell to help the Towel heads. If you need to talk, you got family here bro.

When that marine shot I don't know how many Afghan people dead a few months ago, they talked about the way vets suffering from PTSD and other disorders were treated ... It looks to me that they don't do much to help those who helped us.

Dam Colt....we havn't got a chance to talk much but i'm really sorry brother. I think I speak for everyone here at SI when i say that all of us are here for you brother. Anything you need bro, anything we can do to help.

My birthday was July 2nd and i thought i had a shitty b-day, not going to explain, but I hope you feel better my dude and I am so sorry to hear of your lose. I know how it is to loose ppl to suicide. I know how to loose ppl in every which way. I've had my mother die of cancer, friends get shot n killed, car accidents. I guess we are all no strangers to death.

But i truely from the bottom of my heart am sorry for your lose brother.

Your friend and his family will be in my prays.

On the bright side HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO
