Recently I achieved my first goal since I began lifting about 4 months ago. Im able to squat 135lbx8 arse to grass. Two years ago I couldn't even squat the 45lb barbell.

My long term goal has been to use big boy plates. Being able to squat 45s, and bench 35s for 8 reps.

What were your guys' first goals when you started weight lifting?

Become a better football player.

And yes...benching a plate is a big milestone.

To start QB on the varsity football team as a 9th grader. The spring of my 8th grade year and that summer I lived in the weight room.

To echo what DYS said. The first time I got 135, it was definitely a big deal.

Nice. My initial goal was to be about 250 and 10-12% BF. Didn't reach that goal and since things in life have changed so has the goal. Now I'm shooting for 210-215 ans the same BF

To get the girls to look at me, now its to get the wife to look a me.

Was never big on goals. I figured in the end that if you put your head down and got to work the acheavents would come.

I did have one that I thought was unobtainable but it worked out. I didnt even pick the goal, they said it was almost impossible to do so went with it.

I was playing football too, the high school I go to is baseball focused, so the football team is small. I was on the starting line but after my 6th concussion and a awful patella dislocation, I found out I don't really like sports.lol.

My motivation now is just to be the biggest and strongest in the room.

Original goals:
hit plate for bench, squat and deadlift.
go to gym 5x a week
reach 160lbs body weight

I was 24, 135lbs and never been in the gym before.
Now I’m 29, 207lbs and on ugbodybuilding.com, so I guess I made it.

I grew up over weight until my sophomore year of high school I dropped like 80- 100 lbs. So I guess losing weight was my first. Over the years I’ve gained it back and then some. So here we are again lol same goal, lose the weight. My first 2 goals I have after the weight is gone is to bench more than I weigh and to be able to do a pull-up for the first time in my life.

To be the biggest in the gym. And the most functional at a large size. Not just big but big with a purpose. Already had an out of whack ego cuz I was slick with women. Soon as that needle punctured the skin, I was another level of arrogant/cocky...and it worked.

Goal today, 10-28-2020, repeat as super bowl Champs.

I remember when I finally got 135 up for a few reps. Felt like a badass. Lol. My first goal was prob to get a physique like Edward Norton in American History X. Shortly after it was to be a pro BBer.

I have had too many to remember my first. Was either work out 3x a week for 90 days because I had read somewhere that at that point it becomes ingrained within you or do a 100 incline sit ups (I started when I was 13 yrs old and was convinced abs would get me a gf)

I think for most of us who started in our teens it began with either getting laid or gaining status. Reps and lbs were just means to get there.
