Would you drop $400 on a pair of dumbbells?

Since the gyms are shutting down again I decided to invest in a new pair of 95 lb dumbbells for my modest home gym.

These Vulcan strength pro dumbbells are the best dumbbells I’ve ever used.

I already have a pair of 50’s and 75’s. They have nice wide grips that are rubber coated. They just feel awesome on your palms. All they had left was 95’s and 115’s.
So I feel lucky to score them even though they were $390. Damn!!

Actually that was the total with free shipping..I’m guessing the shipping would have normally been about $100 for that amount of weight. Idk? It’s the most I’ve ever spent on a pair of dumbbells.

Highly recommended!

The question is "Would YOU drop $400 on them?" I wouldn't, but thats me. I would settle for rusted boat anchors.

Nice!

Can you add magnetic mini plates to the ends? That's a little more options in weight.

Like mentioned, its a purchase that will last ye a lifetime, and something ye prolly use nearly every day. With that usage, nothin' wrong with buying quality IMO.

I've seen some adjustable dumbbells in that same price range, but they're far too light (the ones I've seen at least). I like the concept but ye can't do an ME workout with 50Lb DBs.

Good on ye, go break 'em in!

Not a chance. I machined and welded up a set of adjustables, cost me about 15 bucks. It's a pain to have to change out the weights constantly but gets the job done.

To stones point; anyone tell ya how to make your money? No? Then no one should tell ya how to fuukin spend it!

Personally, NFW. Been down this road a year or so ago. My rack only has 25,35,45 & 55 and I've done just fine with it for 25 years but decided I wanted to go bigger for some other movements other then curls. My $45 compromise is below. Not as bad as a boat anchor but not as good as DB's, still gets the job done though.

I went this route, and I've acquired about 500 lbs of 1" hole plates. Also have a few machines that accept 1", so it's not overkill.

Multiple handles, can do drop sets, or alternating exercises. Just less plate swapping.

Damn, wish I had that money. I just tried it out on my pair of Olympic DB, I was able to add 7 10lb olympic plates on each side.

So 140 total and they arnt clunky, it only adds a bit less than 3 inches past the grip. It would be less bulky that the ones you are getting.

If I were you I would get a pair of adjustable olympic 2" DumbBells. Their versatility makes them a much cheaper option than normal DBs.

Then you could use the money on some other piece of equipment.

Well I’ve spent a lot more than that on massive amounts of cocaine and alcohol when I was an addict so why not spend that money on something to get me healthy instead?

So to answer your question, no I wouldn’t lmao

Well these definitely are not for curls. As I said I already have 20’s 30’s 50’s 75’s. I don’t have room for a squat or bench rack in my workout space.

These stack nicely on top of each other in 2x2 foot space in the corner of the room. My issues isn’t money it’s space!

I also have a couple of nice fixed weight curl bars @ 85lb and 105lb.

I needed more weight for chest and legs. I’ve outgrown those 75’s. I’m already able to do 20 reps on incline. The 75’s are perfect for shoulder presses though.

Anyway I needed more weight without cluttering up my space with plates and barbells.

As others have mentioned they will
last a lifetime. So I’m stoked with my decision.

This is the same setup I have, but only 2 pairs and about 350lbs in 1" plates.
My easy curl bar and cable pulley uses the 1" plates also.
Yea its a bitch constantly putting plates on or off but its a huge space saver and I can load them up to 120lbs each, also cost me a small fraction of what it would cost to get dumbell pairs up to 120

I store about 350lbs on this, the rest on my lat pulldown...

Wow look at you living large! How much did you pay for those purple 5 lb dumbbells? :32 (18): More importantly what do you use them for?
