If its under warranty its easier to use the dealer because they can keep the records (you should also), and if anything takes a shit they will know it was serviced when it was supposed to be. Otherwise if you do it somewhere else, which will probably be quite a bit less expensive, you have to keep track of all of the records, receipts, etc. Ive had terrible luck with warranties and the companies trying to get out of fixing shit because of service records.

That depends on the year and model. A dealer is going to rake you over the coals if he can unless your under warranty. If you can find a good local mechanic you trust, keep him.

If youve got a good dealer and service writer there Id stay at the dealer with that make and model. Good vehicle but a little exotic for some locals.

under warranty go to dealer. I would find a good local independent mechanic. (dealer will always charge more per hour)

Also recommend, joining a Nissan car forum, specifically for your car - you would be surprised what kind of info you will find there.. All kinds of tips on how to save money or DIY.

Thanks guys for the great advice, I think I'm going to stay with the dealer since with them I have more guarantee and if some thing goes wrong on there part I'm covered, even tho I will pay more at the end and my family safety is priceless so I'll cough up the extra dough:p

my GF have a VW jetta, the thing was great for a yr, than shit hit the fan. The dlr quote was 3100 bux, i found a VW mechanice on craiglist who did it all for 1500.

When i first went to his house he was wearing a Patrick VW tee shirt(dlr he worked at), have a company van, etc etc. I felt secure and saved a ton of money. Ended up selling the car but id consider making a move like this if cash is an issue.

Sell the damn thing and get a chevy... I would steer away from the dealership. They will rape you. Get urself a manual and a tool box and fix it yourself.

If it's a Chevy all you need is a hammer and some fencing wire.
