    Kick it!!!

I don't know about anyone else but there always seems to be something I could do to improve my lifestyle and training. Always seems to be something in my life that I can do without.

The main things for me were drinking and smoking. I quit drinking over a year and a half ago and my life has improved greatly. From training to diet, sleep habits, attitude, work performance, ect... I kicked the smokes around 6 months ago. Glad to be rid of them nasty ****ers too.

My latest is diet Mt. Dew. I hate that I tried it. Regular Mt. Dew used to be my favorite when I was younger. Hell, I liked the diet Dew so much I didn't want to drink water anymore. I had to finally put it down for good. Back on water only and pretty happy about it. I wish I was one of those people that was good with moderation. LOL

Anyone else have something they need to kick all in the name of improving ourselves and lifestyle?

Or, what has been most difficult for you to let go of?

When I am parked for the night I'll drink, it's not frequent enough of an event for me to have to quit. I shit-canned all the other stupid stuff many years ago.

I get high pumping the muscle group I am training, if squats don't make you high, you're squatting like a pussy.

I have to remind myself that moderation is the key to balance. I need to put the booze down!

Kicked smoking a pack a day two years ago (started when I was 16 - 30 now). But the best decision IMO was to quit smoking the herb all day everyday. It def held me back professionally.

    not gonna kick jerkin it!!

Smoking for me! Iv'e smoked for many years and since I joined the mil I started dabbeling in chewing tobacco on and off. And when I quit smoking I go right to chew again. So I really haven't withdrew from nicotine yet. Drinking..ehh, I dont think I will ever stop but moderation is key.

    Re: Kick it!!!

For a while I was drinking coke like it was going out of style. So bad that I could get a 12 pack on a Friday night and it would be gone later that night. During the course of a weekend 3 to 4 12 packs was not unheard of. So all the while I had been saving up the Coca Cola points to redeem on their website, and man did I have a lot! So I log onto the website one day and it says that all of my points were GONE. Apparently I did not redeem them in the time alotted and therefore forfeit all of them. I was f'kin pissed! Sent them an email telling them I'd never drink another Coke in my life. It lasted about a year or so, but in that time I was able to quit cold turkey. Now, like so many others have said, in moderation.

    Re: Kick it!!!

I've tried to quit smoking many times, the patch, the gum, electronic cigarettes. All to no avail!

Like others, I tried chewing to help quit smoking.....but ended up chewing AND smoking!! I DEF need to quit.

And I have a serious Mountain Dew "Throwback" addiction (made with real sugar, not the bullshit). I have a few a week. Water any other time.

And of course alcohol...I do dabble...although rarely....

    Oh ya...and chicken mcnuggets...sometimes

I'd go crazy if I didn't have some "cheats" in life!!

    Re: Kick it!!!

didn't know there were that many drinkers here, i have cut down greatly on alcohol from drinking a 1/4 liter of vodka a day. just being stupid, i was just basically drinking like there's no tomorrow and getting drunk all the time and everywhere. then "cut down" to a 6 pack a day, eventually having all kinds of issues with my stomach and then a year ago having a blood test done and my blood sugar values crazy high at a 270. my doc started talking to me about insulin and diabetes etc. freaked me out so I decided I had to make a change, started looking at getting into shape and working out.

i don't get drunk anymore but, i still have one drink 3 or 4 days a week. i take a shot of vodka and mix into a gallon of water, and I do this thing where I mix up the gallon jugs where few of them don't have any alcohol at all so at night i dont know if i'm actually drinking or not. sounds silly but, i guess it has had a psychological impact on me, if I tell myself, "i'm not going to drink" my mind starts playing tricks on me and I'm not going to be able to sleep but, if I just "trick" myself like that where I may or may not be drinking that night since I don't know if there's alcohol in their or not, i seem to be fine. on the weekends though I do put a shot in the water, i know it probably sounds crazy what is one shot in a gallon of water and drinking it for a few hours going to do but, whatever I don't care as long as I have cut it down drastically.
