I just turned 50 this year! & boy am I noticing changes it seems like overnight

I used to compete in figure over 10x & it was so easy for me to dial down & lose body fat
I love working out & running!! I’m finding I can’t run as fast as I could anymore & I’m tired a lot

I had my blood work done & all my numbers are great! My testosterone is 50 & everything else seems great!

But what used to work for me no longer does

Any other women have experience or maybe what has helped

Good first post!

Male or female, turning 50 y.o. is the start of, Fuuk this hurts and I can no longer (fill in the blank). If you have always looked good in the mirror, it's worse. Someone that looks like a pile of smashed dog shit at 40 can look a lot better at 50 but if you were able to look good at 40, it's a down hill slide after that.

Add in what a woman's body can go through carrying around another human inside of them and then having to expel that demon from their body, and it's even worse.

My advice, most 50sum look like hell on a beach. Do what you can because it's easy to widen the gap.

My wife is over 60. To me she looks better than the day we met. She was 24 and I was 22.

We have 9 grand kids. The oldest is 20.
Look at what you have done with those 50 years. Not what they did to you. Relax and enjoy the fact that you look better than women 20 years younger than you.
Have a good conversation with yourself about what you realy expect from the later stages of training.

Do it and make it happen as you did each time you competed.

Last thing. You got this.
Welcome.

Age sucks no doubt it's bad for men but probably worse for women. I've trained a lot of women competitors over the years. More women than men because for years I trained with a IFBB woman's pro bodybuilder and just picked up a whole lot of information based on what I knew she did and just observing what worked for her what didn't and the difference between men and women .
After 50 women's metabolism seems to slow down significantly. There are ways to deal with this of course.
If you want a couple of tips, I'm not looking for any of your money, lol, just pm me.

I so wish that was true but it's not at all.

Age makes training, recovering, loosing body fat much more difficult. Also, if someone has been training for 20+ years they are probably now dealing with different chronic injuries.

Things have to be changed as someone ages. Training, frequency, volume and intensity have to be altered somewhat.
Hormones also change significantly which makes loosing body fat much more tricky. If competitive at an older age it's a lot harder to dial in than it was.

All of this is manageable but not by saying age is just a number and train like you did when you were 25.

It's all your age or a large % of your energy issue.
I sent through same thing myself.

You have to be smart, you're not 25 anymore. The volume, intensity and frequency of you training is probably going to need to be changed

I’m trying to stay positive & keep going!!

Thank You
This sounds great. She is just a number?? Sounds great, right? Just, fuck it, train the same as you always did?

No, age is not just a number, far from it. So much changes completely for most as they age and it's not some type of placebo.

Women and men can be successful in reaching their goals at older age but they can't go about it like they are 25. That is not going to work.
