I recently went to the doc to have blood work done to see if I had recovered enough to run another cycle. I did post the results and they looked ok gtg for a cycle you can find them under my threads.

Anyway since my test was border line I took a run at trt. The doc was not opposed to it how ever he wanted to run some tests to c what was causing my low t 305 age 31. I did not tell him about my most recent cycle .

So I did not get the most recent blood results how ever he said that I have high Iron in my blood and that most likely I have Hemochromatosis a hereditary gene defect that causes your body to store to much iron . Any way he is sending me to a GI doctor to test for the gene.

I am not so much worried about this I feel fine and if it is the disease at least I caught it early. I just figured I would put it to the board for thoughts comments. Any way this could be aas related or maybe I dont have the gene could my Iron still be high from my cycle 4 mo ago?

I will get copies of the most recent blood work and update after I see the GI doctor I will also inform him of my last cycle

thanks for your thoughts

Have you given blood in the meantime? That might lower your hemoglobin - it's possible that the high count was caused by the cycle, but the additional testing would be able to tell whether you have hemochromatosis or not. It looks like your blood test did not include a CBC on the second test, so it's hard to tell if your hematocrits or hemoglobin are out of whack.

I have seen this a few times, if caught early enough, life span can be normal if you stay on top of it and do your regular phlebotomys, iron chelators have also come a long way, I suggest if you still want to run a cycle or do get, I would try and increase your phlebotomy appointments by 30-50% minding your hematocrit stays within range. The consequences of not taking care of it or being non compliant with treatment are poor....you have any family members with this? Or any early deaths from heart or liver disease? Just stick to treatment and watch bloods carefully, and diet, you'll be good.

No history of the disease or heart and liver problems in the family. I still need to be tested for the gene I'm not sure I have the defect , I'm waiting on a referral to the GI doc should be this week. I will most likely run another cycle I just want to make sure I will be ok to first. I will most defiantly stay on top of what ever treatment I need to . This all came about bc my test level came back low , my doc says this disease can be a cause for low t. Trt can be used for treatment if I do have the disease so that could be a bright side to have blood let the rest of my life. Wish I could sell my blood like plasma. When I go to the. GI doc I'll get the results from the second and third blood tests I took , the second one was a test and liver enzyme and the third was a iron panel . I'll post them up so u guys can check them out.

No the third test was a iron panel however I haven't been back to get the paperwork . The doc just called to tell me That I was bieng refferd to a GI to test for the defect based on the previous 2 panels I took. there were three blood tests in all I posted the first test the second and third tests I'll get when I see the GI doc

Great News just wanted to update the thread I went to the GI doc he did the hemochromatosis test it came back negative how ever I do have the gene on one side of the family making me prone to high iron. Next he suggested I have a liver biopsy which I was not having him do I found a specialist at duke that would see me going forward if necessary . I had the GI doc run another Iron panel to see if the first test was accurate , I just got the results back and I am fine! my first test showed my iron saturation at 76% or so this test showed it at 34% or so My Ferritin level was 454 where 400 is normal but I am prone to higher iron as I said so he sees no concern I do have the paper work and will add it to the thread soon :) good news! I still wonder though if the cycle I ran had anything to do with the high levels in the first place

If you are taking a multi vitamin make sure it has no iron.
