In our town we have one of those statue of liberty fools (Liberty Tax) standing on the corner ALL day every day waving at traffic in full costume....

....I'm sure he/she will be glad when today is through?

E filed last night and sent payments in today along with quarterly payments. I hate paying my share and many more peoples share. Distribute my work ethic not my wealth! Let the leeches eat cake!

I just e-filed mine. Owed $678 which is the smallest amount in a few years.

I always try to owe the biggest amount possible without penalty and look at it as an interest free loan from the government rather than loaning money to them interest free.

And on tax day, when I have to pay the bill, it's a solemn reminder that we are paying too much in taxes.

In an ideal world, every taxpayer would significantly short the government through reduced withholding to the greatest extent possible and on April 15th, 2014 perhaps we could get their attention and even have a brief chat.

On my wishlist...

Term limits for all elected officials
Elimination of retirement benefits for congress and the white house, use your 401k like the rest of us
a constitutional amendment capping overall combined federal taxation at 30% of AGI including FICA taxes
Either repeal Obamacare or require congress to be insured by Obamacare

That's all I want.....

Let's see...

Federal Tax Exempt Bonds...check
Passive Investment Income...check
Royalties...check
Long Term Capital Gains...check
Short Term Capital Gains...check
Schedule C Business Income...check
and finally W-2 income...check

Good thing I'm a CPA.

Marginal rate of 35% (14.4% actual gross rate) and filing jointly.

Sent the Federal Government $72,345.14

I hate this day. We pay our taxes quarterly and still had to write a $22,000 check to the IBS!
