First off, yes he spends way too much time on his fucking smart devices. However, he plays travel soccer and makes straight As every quarter. He's 12, do I endulge him and if so what alien are laptop to I look into? Or do I say have fun with what you got and be damn grateful your not out mowing the fucking lawn like I was at 12. Parents only comment...you single douches have no real clue!!!!!

I can't say I knew what the hell that was until I did a google search. It seems it's a gaming laptop (lol, I have no clue). I'm sure that your son doesn't want the entry level either. Gaming you need all the bells & whistles, so we are talking $2k plus. It's sad to say that Yes! I have done more than my share of gaming in my past. I'd want the biggest baddest fucking laptop they have. I know you said he gets A's, just maybe let him earn a bit more of that pretty expensive machine. Cause ya know in 2 years he's gonna "NEED" a new one.

I had one. If my daughter wanted one sure. So long as her grades are good and she's not sitting around getting fat and unhealthy.

i use to like alien ware, my buddy got one all decked out the fucker weighed like 15-20 lbs not shitting u, nice features, owned by dell now i think? what all is he into as far as the pc is concerned? and yes if he gets straight A's then go for it, but id set up parental control on the modem and let him know when the internet will turn off!! and be back on, but thats just me, and my kids are crazy anyways... i think u might be able to buy something cheaper with just as many features thru hp, ? id search a bit before i dumpled that much into a windows based laptop, but im a mac guy so very reasoning is a bit bias

Alienware is definitely for gaming. As long as That's what he wants it for and not just Cuz it looks Cool then go for it. They r great gaming laptops. If It's just for general purpose then there are cheaper alternatives that will preform the same.

Make him work it off.

He wants nice things, make a lesson of it. Nice things come from hard work.

And for the love of God make that kid do some yard work.

Shit that's a good point. I don't usually think of that shit cause my daughter is still too young for slavery.

Tough one...

Gaming laptops are expensive.. I would get a Razor or Asus, that being said, I think at 12 he's too young for top of the line laptop. Compromise for a desktop which you can get for half the price with better specs..
Also as parent and as someone who was glued to the PC playing Cod4 and BF2 24/7 I would try and avoid steering him into this path. I reckon the problem is his friends all have one..

It's nice being a parent isn't it.... Decisions, decisions..

My daughter has to make sacrifices and I taught her this around the age of 12, soccer is not cheap and in order for her to keep playing she has to make choices and sacrifices.

The biggest sacrifice she has had to make is not going to all the family and friend weekend parties for birthdays and such especially because she is the goalkeeper.

If he starts getting good enough you'll be paying a lot of money bro just look at me 3 trips to Mexico City in 6 months with one of them trips being for a week not just the weekend, then all the other team events and fee's.

I have spent about 7 grand in about 6 months and this don't include the next to Mexico trip and other events.

If he keeps his grades up and other areas don't suffer then I'd make him work for it. Not only will he get what he wants but he will learn that that shit ain't free and give him the feeling that he earned it. Any time i wanted shit when i was a kid my parents made me earn it and i took better care of them because it was almost like it was coming out of my pocket

I agree ....if he is doing well with school etc, get it for him.....but make him understand that it is a privilege and not a right...

If he is doing well in school they usually prefer them to get macintosh laptops. You might want to talk with the school about what type of laptops they recommend for kids going into highschool.

Alien is top of the food chain as far as gaming lappie. The reason y is there ability to pack in solid state drive (much more durable) and a gpu card which I am pretty sure u won't find seperatly on any lappie. Most use intergrated gpu wjich u anf I would not care but for a gamer its the biggest difference.

I agree with the previous post though its a lot of doe so with big boy toys comes big boy responcibilites sit down and figure out a few chores u could do wo and pass them down also let him know if he does not meet expectations ur gonna be the baddest dude on si w ur tripped out forum/porn machine (hd makes alll the difference)

Finally this is a long shot but see if he is willing to comprimise ssd drives r nice faster and way more durable but not nessasary and they are a huge expense in the build . I bet he is most interested in the upgradeable gpu and a ahit ton of ddr ram. No ssd will save u a bunch of bucks and weight on the machine

Thanks for all the input, I probably should have mentioned he already has a decent laptop for his school activities. My understanding is the alien ware is total gaming. I'm going to make him work, the kid is fucking smart and a smart ass!!!! He's a great defender in soccer and I have to make him play, every coach wants him and he's hoping for rain....so he can play on the pc!!!! It's a tricky age I think, I don't want him to get away from me....he's already talking back to the Mrs. Which will make all our lives more difficult!!!! Thanks again for all the input, love you bros....shit....my estrogen must be high....damnit!!!!!

Ok, so being the stern father I set out to be....my kid still has no gaming pc. It's one year later, he's going into eigth grade, all advanced...still making straight As, still playing division 1 travel soccer and now playing flag football at school. Not bragging btw....I could throw him through the wall sometimes! I know in a year's time everything could change in the tech world so I must pose the question to my bros....
What gaming "laptop" may be the best for him....I'm giving him a $2k budget. I know alot of you are very knowledgeable in this field...as I am an idiot....I'm still trying to tell him to go outside with his slingshot! Help a sloped forheaded bro in need....

My kid or shall I say my wifes kid wants a gaming pc also.
He spends his entire life in his room playing games (hes 13). Im sure he throws in porn every once in awhile.
He asks quite often for a gaming pc but I honestly aint giving him shit.
He gets decent grades but hates sports and is just not your athletic kid which sucks.
I grew up playing sports and ended my career playing aaa baseball.

Anyhow im curious what gaming pcs are good n such so will follow this.
