    Pettis VS Henderson 2

Many elete combat sports trainers believe fighters and combat athletes dont always improve, some stay at the same level even if its a top level. A popular theory is that only a few advance once they achieve "pro" status. Some may actually get worse. I believe Pettis VS Henderson could be an example of this.

Ben won the first match and years later the title. Had several 5 round title defenses, some controversial. On the other hand Pettis is tearing through the competition. The two met recently and Pettis showed his improvements over Bens with a text book armbar.

I think there is some truth to this, but I dont think its because some are destined to "barn sour" or stall. I think faimly and the availability of quality sparing partners plays a huge role in this regard. And of course injuries.

Is it just the fight game or is there any credence to this school of thought? Your thoughts?

I think injuries have alot to do with how they preform.Alot of times u may see a fighter who just looks off.Either they stopped juicing or they got a injury their trying to fight through.Im a big fan of pettis i think hes a great fighter.I hope he can hang on to that belt it wont be easy in that division

Dana White already said that there wont be another fight between the 2 anytime soon. when you go 0-2 against an opponent that pretty much sums it up.

Pettis is just that much more talented than Henderson and he works his ass off all the time. Nothing against Henderson, he's a great fighter. I've known Anthony since he was about 6-7 years old. His older Brother Rey was in my division in Tae Kwon Do and being from Michigan I saw them a lot and even trained at their instructors school a few times. Anthony was always the little kid in the corner doing all types of crazy jump spinning kicks and flips, tricks and all that shit. He schooled everybody in the teen division in sparring when he got older and now the little ****er is mainlining UFC cards and is the LW champion. shit is still crazy to me, but Duke wasn't joking when he compared Pettis to Michael Jordan. he is truley that gifted and trust me, there will be a lot more spectacular shit to come from this kid.

Bendo is a grinder, Pettis is a finisher. Different style of fighters. In the fight game the difference between "good" and "Great" comes down to your reaction speed (instincts and timing) and mental toughness.
