Some criminals are not stupid.
Just watched a story about DB Cooper. Police are so arrogant, they would rather hire experts to speculate that hes dead because of old money found 20 miles from his drop point. Than to believe that he may actually have gotten away with it. Or that since none of the money was ever found in "circulation". Ive followed this story off and on for years and just now an independent investigator believes Cooper came back to the river and planted the $$ to throw off investigators. LE and community refuse to give credit where/when its due. Thats why they never caught him.
I got my bachelors in Sociology and am fascinated by this stuff. My work as a bondsman kept me even more intrigued. I bonded out one of the most accomplished counterfeiters in Dallas history. One of the reasons he continued to skirt by is that LE kept underestimating him. Thinking he was a drug addict and such. He used to make the money and then go on a trip (often to another state) and throw it out the window of a city bus $100 at a time. Knowing all sorts of folks would pick it up and spend it . Keeping LE busy and looking all over for everyone but him....His x wife turned him in BTW. He did 8years of a 12 yr Fed sentence. Paroled out and....who knows what hes doing now, nothing would suprise me. Guy was a genius.
