Do you guys think the United States and other countries should consider similar laws? Social media has proven to be harmful to young people, negatively impacting self esteem and body image. It also contributes to smartphone addiction and the health problems associated with that.
On the other hand, social media can be a useful tool to communicate and to make new friends.
Australian Parliament bans social media for under-16s with world-first law
The law will make platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X and Instagram liable for fines of up to $33 million for failures to prevent kids from holding accounts.
