The recovery continues. 😌

3 weeks in to Prednisolone and 1.5 weeks in to Mercaptopurine. No side effects to speak of other than potentially a small amount of extra stray hairs coming out in the shower. I’ll take that though.

Symptoms are down massively and I’m sure there’s some internal healing going on.

Training is going well - I think I’m something like 9 days on the bounce of both lifting and 60 minutes steady state cardio and don’t feel the need to rest just yet. Still building up in terms of weight and intensity but much improved compared to where I was.

I thought the damage would be much greater, I was actually scared. I’ll be on 20mg by this time next week so hopefully things start to look better then too!

Ask for a crazy high price, see if they agree. 🤣
99% of these fuckers are just fishing for a reply because they get some kind of kick out of it. I said send me some money upfront and I'll consider it and then he asks me to list what underwear I have available ss if I'm going to empty my laundry basket and recite the colours and brands to him. Pieces of shit man. :ROFLMAO:

Hi chaps.

It’s been a very good week! I’ve trained every day rotating Upper and Lower with daily cardio too. I was doing 60 minutes daily but decided to reduce it to 30 minutes as my main focus is gaining tissue back. All cardio done on the cross-trainer at a steady state.

Recovery is going really well and my symptoms have dramatically decreased. I’m due to taper down on my corticosteroid dose in a couple of days and next week I will be getting bloods taken to make sure my liver values are in check as my medication can effect the liver. But no bothersome side effects outwardly so far which makes me very happy.

I feel like if things continue to improve as they have been lately I could get the IBD into remission in the near future, barring any unexpected twists and turns. Very promising though and I feel positive.

Enjoying my training so much too. Pumps are back with a vengeance. Strength is on the up and I’m 9lbs up now which suggests I’m having a better time absorbing my food/nutrients.

I was walking home from the gym today and I bumped in to that funny gentleman from the hospital randomly in the city centre. He’d been going through some rough times and asked if I’d buy him a McDonalds. Big Mac and cappuccino secured. 😂

Physique today, hands were too jittery from half a scoop of pre to stay steady.

Hello fellas.

Still doing pretty well. Training has been consistent, as has cardio. I’ve moved over to an Upper/Lower/Rest model now following advice from Jordan Peters and I’m quite enjoying it. Pretty taxing, even with low volume. I think my legs are still acclimatising to being hit this often.

IBD symptoms are much better now too. Mainly just some cramping and gas which can be a bit uncomfortable but nothing compared to what it was like, I can actually function normally for the most part now. I’m still tapering off Prednisolone, tomorrow is my last day at 20mg and then I’m down to 10mg for 2 weeks.

On the whole, I can’t complain too much. Appetite is better but can be sporadic but I am managing to eat enough to gain weight back which is good. A little more time and I am really hoping I’m in the clear, or as close as can be. 🙏

Some recent ‘sique and eats.

And a throwback from exactly 3 years ago today at one of my first sessions back in the gym after I was released, looking tiny.

All’s going well folks.

Tolerating my Mercaptopurine well. Down to just 5mg Prednisolone with just 10 days left of my taper. Had another Infliximab infusion and also had an iron infusion as my flare up left me anaemic. Overall feeling much, much better and more healthy.

Been taking much more care with my diet and the foods I consume as an extra precaution as to not upset my gut/digestion, seems to be paying off.

My training split I’ve gone with Upper/Lower as I’ve been following Jordan Peters and his Q&A’s on Instagram lately and he’s a big advocate for it. Hitting things with less volume more frequently feels good. I’m going to stick with this for a while. My legs definitely needed more attention as I could see and feel how much they’d downsized while I was sick.

Hi gang.

Another week in the bag.

On the health situation: Went to the hospital for a review with the IBD team today. I’ve got 2 days left on corticosteroids but I have noticed my gut is a little more unsettled than it was so I brought this up to them. We’re going to see how I get on without Prednisolone next week and then if I can continue without, that’s great. If symptoms start to come back then we’ll have to do another 6 week run to allow my other 2 meds more time to take effect. Fingers crossed I can go without ‘em as the body can become quite reliant on them but if I can’t, it is what it is. The most recent med I was put on is absorbed through the bone marrow so it can take ~3 months to fully kick in and it’s only been 8 weeks or so. Time will tell but either way, I shouldn’t end up in too much of a pickle because it’s only a 1 week period where things could escalate before I control it again with steroids if things go South.

Training wise I got another solid week in the bag. I’m doing 3 days on 1 day off Upper/Lower so it looks like U/L/U/R/L/U/L/R. Recovery has been fine at this frequency but I’m willing to scale back to 2 on 1 off if this becomes an issue.

Some recent shots - back and hamstrings are taking a little longer to catch up but strength is coming back and feeling thicker and fuller.

Rotating between quad emphasis and hamstring emphasis on lower and back emphasis and arm emphasis on upper at the moment.

Oh and I’m experimenting with one month of direct neck training to see if I can gain some cheap size as I’ve never hit it directly.

Hi.

I am off my Prednisolone now as of like 3-4 days ago. I have another 6 week course in the drawer on standby in case there’s any sign of a flare but I am seeing how I get on without it first and hoping everything remains stable. :)

Having a good time training again and for the most part my diet is much cleaner, but I do have the occasional treat. Trying to strike a balance between getting some enjoyment from eating and not upsetting my gut. Enjoying Upper/Lower training and hitting muscle groups more frequently with less volume. Going back to something like PPL or bro split just doesn’t seem appealing right now. Legs in particular feel like they’re benefitting from it.

Other than that, just chilling and learning a little about astrophysics from Neil deGrasse Tyson on YouTube, the man’s an absolute legend.
