On the spectrum of good vs bad, I'd put it more in the bad side. It's in the same category as bacon, an indulgence food, a condiment at best.

What about from a general health perspective, and not just for physique purposes?

I have a friend who suffered a heart attack. He is encouraged to eat peanut butter as a regular part of his diet, but was told to never eat bacon again.

Not much, same as PB. Anyone serious and knowledgeable about nutrition for BB, would never say that PB is a good food choice.

I have learned that since coming here.

But in the mainstream world of Instagram, YouTube, magazines and BB.com it's a common suggestion.

Yolks have lots of minerals that we tend to not get enough of, like iron, copper, zinc, biotin, selenium, and iodine.

Also have vitamins A, D, E, K, and several of the B vitamins.

It's surprising they have been demonized for so long given all of these benefits.

@Diesel59

While it's not the worst choice, peanut butter is highly overrated and borderline worshipped by many.

The body's need for essential fats is low, so the extra that we eat IDEALLY should be packed full of other nutrients.

I full agree that as an indulgence food, it's great. But there's a difference there.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes a lot of sense.

If I'm going to take in 16 grams of fat, it's better when it comes from 3 large eggs where I'm getting a lot more micronutrients along with the fat.

Junk in, junk out, for both health and physique.

I'm not his Dr, so I can't speak on his specific conditions, or the medical team's recommendations.

So isn't a bunch of other dumb shit.

Not by serious people knowledgeable in nutrition, they weren't. Marketing, yes. The food pyramid was a political thing, and was NOT recommended by researchers and dieticians.

Probably, but we're not robots. A little PB is fine on occasion. It's when people turn IIFYM into bacon, peanut butter, a glass of V8, and ham, that's when shit gets stupid.

For me when choosing food. I look to what gets me my macro's with a good deal of nutrition with it. It is not about what isn't the worst. Probably 10% of food may be considered the worst. That doesn't make the other 90% good choices. I tend to higher up the ladder with all the options available. PB is high in omega 6's which most people get plenty of. And those can lead to more inflammation in the body. Egg yolks are an easy choice especially if eggs are already being eaten. great quality of protein, good fats as well as many nutrients a growing body needs as it is an embryo.

That's a nice way to do the selection of the food. But again, I consider things and like to go a bit deeper while doing selection. Like the egg size I prefer L instead of M.

We all should have some knowledge about cooking. I agree with you that as adults, we should learn about cooking, not advanced cooking but some basic food items.

That's a great way of looking at it.

You don't have to be a chef. Just learn how to cook meats like chicken breasts, thighs, ground beef, ground turkey, eggs, etc. in a way that is both safe and tasty. You can pair these with frozen vegetables, and use a rice cooker to make rice.

I do not have an oven, just a portable stovetop. But I am able to make what I need.

That's quite nice! I appreciate that you can do that. I have also learned making some varieties with egg and also some fast foods like Pizza, Burger and lots more.

@john_and01 Making your own burgers can be fine, because you can use lean beef or turkey.

How do you make your own pizza?

Well, there are lots of ways, like you could make a Tortilla Pizza, or you could use the readymade pizza dough and make the same. I use my personalized sauce and toppings and cheese to go with. But, again this is only preferable once or twice a month.
