I'm glad you mentioned this because I thought about trying calipers but isn't that only accurate if you have tight skin? My skin is loose and so when you pinch a section of skin it's top easy to grab a bigger or smaller section of skin when taking the same measurements.Just remember, the scale is not the only metric, it's just a piece of the puzzle.
Use it in conjunction with the mirror, how your clothes fit, and bodyfat millimeter measurements from a few sites with a cheap set of calipers.
For example, if your weight is going up, but your clothes fit better, and you've dropped 2 mm's on the calipers, you've lost bodyfat even though the scale has gone up.
Basically what I'm saying is I would assume loose skin makes that very difficult to be consistent wirh measurements thus not being an accurate form tracking
