Just remember, the scale is not the only metric, it's just a piece of the puzzle.

Use it in conjunction with the mirror, how your clothes fit, and bodyfat millimeter measurements from a few sites with a cheap set of calipers.

For example, if your weight is going up, but your clothes fit better, and you've dropped 2 mm's on the calipers, you've lost bodyfat even though the scale has gone up.
I'm glad you mentioned this because I thought about trying calipers but isn't that only accurate if you have tight skin? My skin is loose and so when you pinch a section of skin it's top easy to grab a bigger or smaller section of skin when taking the same measurements.

Basically what I'm saying is I would assume loose skin makes that very difficult to be consistent wirh measurements thus not being an accurate form tracking

I'll be starting a lean bulk soon, in about 3 weeks, duration of approximately 20 weeks. Follow along, I'll start a log on it, pics and dexa scan before and after, I'll post my diet and training.
Ill be following. You basically just adopted a new child. Congrats

If you find the navel area to be problematic, use other areas. I use 3 sites, the navel, chest midway between nipple and armpit, and front of thigh halfway between knee and hip. I add them up.

It's going to be ironic when his bf% is less than mine. 🤣
Are you going to post your Dexa result? I'm curious to see it.

Can I use that on a smartphone or is it for laptops only?
You can use it with a phone. It's easier with a laptop or desktop but you you can. There is an app for Google Sheets for both iPhone and Android.

I also struggle to use calipers on myself. I gave up. There are a few web sites where you can enter various measurements and it will spit out a BF%, but in my experience they all indicate low. That's okay, as long as they are consistent.

Take pics monthly, do the measurements weekly, weigh daily, log EVERYTHING you eat and you'll have plenty of data to track whats changing.

Silly question but what's the navel area?

It's probably going to take me a few weeks to get back into the ability to strictly track everything. I'm quickly remembering how hard it is late at night when I'm on autopilot to track calories/macros. I gotta get my discipline back up to speed 😂
