I know this isnt the topic but ,, think of yourself as a cylinder , you pull as much air as you can into your belly and brace out ,, not just forward and it does take some practice , but you want to fill your belt , front back sides get yourself full of air down low as you can .. brace it out and fill the belt

now braced and with all that air ,, you as the cylinder are much harder to compress ... full vs empty soda can ,, you can stand on a full one ,, not on an empty ,, why ? internal pressure

Great analogy. This is what I do. Pick up the bar, take in as much air as I can, brace with the belt, squat down getting as low as I can, then come up exhaling after I get about 1 third of the way up.

I used to have that when doing heavy squats and even more so with heavy dumbell sholder press. It felt like my head was going to explode.
I"d say if it happen when you haven't lifted tons of iron, then you have something to be concerned about.

Keep it up bro. It's the price we pay to get big. It's better than eating potato chips watching tv.
Just with the heavy squats. My head has not exploded yet so I guess I'll be good.

I don't eat chips, but when the TV is on, I sometimes get into the Skinny Pop...

I've been getting headaches on leg day for a while too. I was gonna start a thread and found this one.

Sounds similar to me, I get them towards the end of my squat session after my 2 last sets (usually taken to failure), or when I start doing accessories after.

My blood pressure is good. I monitor it closely.

If I take a bit longer rest interval they seem to go away pretty quick. I'm curious what would cause this though. My hunch is that it has something to do with strenuous work on the biggest muscles in your body, cortisol maybe? No idea.

I hydrate pretty well while lifting too.

The Valsalva maneuver produces a transient spike in blood pressure that could absolutely cause headaches.

Exertion- related headaches are pretty common, and are usually benign.

That said, it's probably wise to keep an eye on it. If the headaches get worse and/or start causing nausea or visual disturbances, then it's probably time to see a doctor.

I bought a blood pressure tested, one that is well reviewed for accuracy. As is usual for me, my BP measured about 110 / 70. I didn't check it during the workout though.
