Hello ladies and gents,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been lifting since 2021 on and off again and really hoping to stay consistent this time around. I'm a 37/M and recently (4 months as of tomorrow) stopped drinking for the first time in forever. Was never a super heavy drinker but it did drastically affect my progress and motivation. My goal is to get lean and then add muscle. I'm 5'10 and 182 currently. Looking forward to finally making some real progress. Cheers everyone!

I don't count the days but I've been sober for around 10 years give or take.

Exercise never hurt anyone.

5 foot 10 and 182. I wouldnt consider weight loss as the place to start.

Train hard. Eat well at 5 meals a day. You have muscle memory on your side. Try to keep that level of body fat and get up to 200 pounds. Then maintain 200 pounds as you tweek the diet to drop fat.
5 foot 10 at 200 pounds and 10% body fat is a great look.

If you are 25% body fat now and you put on 20 pounds of muscle you will look like you have less body fat. Most likely it is coming round to winter where you live. So a beach body isn't needed for 5 months. That gives you 20 weeks to get your training and diet on point. Then drop the body fat ready for a new hulk-like look for summer.

Just an idea. I'm the type of guy that doesent believe in doing stuff by half. Do or do not as Yoda says.
Good luck. Welcome.

welcome!

I'd have to agree with Rickt, train hard and eat well, with a solid meal plan and hard work you can add on 18lbs no problem, 20 weeks... plenty of time! Then, trim the fat back and summer will be great.

There is tons of good information here and great people providing it!
