So rbc is high and need to donate. However I have been taking fin fo a few months now. Fin is on the list of meds that make you ineligible to donate. Says you need to be 30 days off which is too long to wait. Dr won't write a script for me to donate. Unsure if I want to try myself. Looking online it seems like fin is out of your body in 3 days. Could I just come off for 3 days and donate or is that dishonest and dangerous. Any help would be appreciated.

Just don't tell them you're on fin. You won't get in trouble, and no one is going to die or get sick from receiving your blood.

You don't need a script to donate. Just walk into any donation center. If RBC is especially high then donate double reds.

Don't overthink or overcomplicate this. 🤦‍♂️

Someone on another forum made a good point though. If a pregnant lady gets my blood it could be dangerous to fetus though.

Sounds like being off for a few days shouldn't harm you and would solve the problem with harming others. Medicine always takes a very conservative approach i find. so they are going to error on the side of how long to be off rather then take any risk at all.

Then don't do it if you're super worried. What do you want us to say? You either do it or you don't. Make a decision.

Why would a doctor not write a blood drop if your hct is high. I get one anytime my hematocrit is over 48. Get another doctor.
