When I was driving home today I was thinking about this topic and thought I would post it .. plus I am very interested to hear my brothers feedback here ...

How would you rate your gym effort today (or at your last workout) ... I am not actually meaning your intensity level in any one particular exercise - set - or even rep.

I mean sitting down afterwards ... how would you rate your workout effort on a 1 - 10 scale (10 being highest).

I would give myself a 7 today ... and I am thinking that is a good number for me. I missed a few months earlier this year .. and have been back at it for about 4 weeks.

My intention through the rest of this year is to be far more consistent that previous years (I am doing my best to channel Snake) ...

I am not going to the gym with the intention of lifting the most (for me) or taking most sets to failure (although a few do reach failure) ... I am intending to do excellent form and full range of motion .. while perform under (beneath) what I would call an all out effort.

What is effort rating and your strategy that best explains it?

Today? Zero

Yesterday, probably only a 9. I could have done more back work but my 12 hour day at work made me lazy.

My rotator is really bothering me to the point that the pain is radiating into my pec. 6 out of 10 effort, 8/10 soreness.

6/19/2021, 3 of 10.

I totally feel you man ... not everyday is going to be a high number .. it is the fact we did not lose ground .. we still put in the work ... so the next work of perhaps one week or even 3 weeks from now will benefit even from those other earlier workouts that had a lower number.

I felt great and busted ass today. 10.

I didn't do a ton of volume but I worked hard at what I did and progressed over last week. I also did some kickboxing on the heavy bag, and I'm trying to knock that fawker off the chain.

I'd rate my effort today at 70%. I could have pushed my conditioning a bit more but than again... My body needs it's active recovery week coming up next week. The accumulated fatigue has built up big time with my dieting and weight drop.

I'm always very hard on myself for not working as hard as I feel I should. Then I remember I have 2 wedged disks, knee pain, elbow pain and a torn bursa in my hip, and you dont get that shit from being a pussy.

Last couple of workouts have been subpar. Yesterday’s workout was a 3 and today’s was maybe a 5. I’ve been very lethargic this last week and not sure why. However that’s no excuse and I still showed up. I got my ass there regardless. There are always gonna be good days and bad days.

3 for me from Thursday. Had no desire to push, or do anything. Didn't even want to go, but did. Something at least.

A big fat goose egg for today. Yesterday was the same and if all goes as planned, tomorrow will be a sweep for the week.

If ya let me factor in diet, I'm in the negatives.

I take steps everyday to give myself the best opportunity to be successful during my workout. Ie: I eat and eat well, I sleep, I try and keep my stresses under control, I don’t miss shots and I get my blood work done regularly.
my last workout was at 2am and it was deadlifts. I stewed since my last deadlift workout that I had more in the tank.
Yesterday I met a buddy for the workout and hit a solid 663 and missed 679 at the knees. I was pissed off. At the time, i felt my focus was off, my drive on and I could have taken more pain and finished the rep. After taking the time to
Review the video. I gave it better honest effort then I thought and I missed it because it was just to heavy and I wasn’t strong enough. Back to the drawing board and I gave my effort an 8/10.

Best to everyone towards your goals, whatever those goals may be.

7 out of 10 for me today. Started slow, didn't feel great, pushed through and did feel good towards the end.

I'm in the middle of a long run of really good workouts. I can't remember the last one where I was just going through the motions.

I did cut back to 4x per week, so maybe that's why they've all been really good.
