i rarely share good news with acquaintances; they will only try to measure up.Warning! Rant on the way.
I have about had my fill of people that disregard someone else efforts. Recently I took a nice buck during archery. I showed a pic to a co-worker who hunts. His response was, "You're lucky. You seem to get one every year". Lucky, really? How about the fact I spend more time in the woods scouting, setting up trail cams and tending a food plot than most hunters spend actually hunting? Oh but I guess it's luck.
Then there's the guy who gets chatty on the beach. You know, the "So what's your bench" guy. The one that says, "I wish I look like that" Wish? How about picking a weight if that's what you want? You think I just rubbed Aladdin's lamp and POOF! Yeah it must be luck. Can't be decades of non-stop hard work.
Oh, we're not done. How about the one that says, "Must be nice" when you say you're going a vacation? A friend of mine went on a 10 day Alaskan cruise. The one guy said, "Must be nice". Like he was begrudging my buddy because it's something he can't do. They don't see how my buddy has his own business, probably works about 10 hr a day 6 days a week and paperwork on Sundays. But the my buddy decides to take some time off and spend his hard earned money and is made to feel guilty for going on a nice vacation? Maybe hard work has provided for some of the nicer things in life.
“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.”
