⚠️Warning! Rant on the way.

I have about had my fill of people that disregard someone else efforts. Recently I took a nice buck during archery. I showed a pic to a co-worker who hunts. His response was, "You're lucky. You seem to get one every year". Lucky, really? How about the fact I spend more time in the woods scouting, setting up trail cams and tending a food plot than most hunters spend actually hunting? Oh but I guess it's luck.

Then there's the guy who gets chatty on the beach. You know, the "So what's your bench" guy. The one that says, "I wish I look like that" Wish? How about picking a weight if that's what you want? You think I just rubbed Aladdin's lamp and POOF! Yeah it must be luck. Can't be decades of non-stop hard work.

Oh, we're not done. How about the one that says, "Must be nice" when you say you're going a vacation? A friend of mine went on a 10 day Alaskan cruise. The one guy said, "Must be nice". Like he was begrudging my buddy because it's something he can't do. They don't see how my buddy has his own business, probably works about 10 hr a day 6 days a week and paperwork on Sundays. But the my buddy decides to take some time off and spend his hard earned money and is made to feel guilty for going on a nice vacation? Maybe hard work has provided for some of the nicer things in life.

“I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.”

Fortunate enough to know how to fix my own vehicles or build my house? No. It was a lot hard work and studying. Fortunate ain't got a damn thing to do with it
And how did you aquire those talents? One day you said, Om going to give this a try, right?

When I was young, I enjoyed woodworking.ade some ugly shelves but my mom still hung them up. A few years back, I cut down an oak tree, made plans and let it dry of 3 years. I'm time, they turned into a 8' dining room table that looks better than anything you'd ever see in a store.

Maybe it's just easier for people to say, He's lucky Rather than to try something themselves.

I'm late to the thread Snake, but replying to your OP, I hear you. As Yoda says, "do or do not, there is no try". Or, in my words, "what have you done lately?" I used to, I almost... you are or you aren't, and if you are, it's not lucky breaks, it's an investment of time and effort.

My peeve is when my military service comes up, somebody is always quick to tell me how they almost joined, but...

I tried and tried , scored a 99 on the fucking ASVAB they asked me to take it again , same score.

Dad , Uncles , couple of brothers, cousins all served , mostly in the Navy or Marines , my pops was a CPO on the USS Northhampton , we have pics of him with Pres Kennedy and Johnson when they came on board.

Even then I already had a history and head issues due to my Blind Rage Syndrome , they wouldn't take me.

Broke my heart for a while , in a long forgotten copy of a yearbook from a school I never graduated from under what you want to be , it said Marine.

I never once thought about the military. Looking back, it would have made a great career and I'd be pulling a good pension at my age. Then again, I could have been dead at 22 y.o.
