So I've been doing some reading and kinda seems to me that either of these two will spike glycogen. I've always added dextrose to my post workout protein shake, 20 grams. But my question is... will cane sugar do just as well after the gym

Cane sugar is about half glucose and half frucruse. Dextrose is just glucose derived from corn.

Glucose goes right into the blood, and can be absorbed by your muscles right away.

Fructose hits the liver first, replenishes that, rest is converted to glucose or triglycerides.

I'd opt for the dextrose, or some other glucose dominant food, like rice or potatoes.

More important is the meal BEFORE your training though.

But the difference is minimal. I wouldn't even give it a thought. I've used both before. Now I just use Gatorade powder for the flavor as an intra. Whole food meal for post workout.

I've never messed with anything intra before. I've always thought about it. Is it that beneficial?

Probably not for just weight training, but I do it out of habit at this point.

If you need extra calories for gaining, and sick of food, liquid calories always help.

I gotcha. Now what about liquid glucose vs dextrose. Personally I have no experience with the liquid glucose

I haven't noticed a difference in any of the sugars. The last 6 months I have went through dextrose, cyclic dextrin and maltodextrin. Even mixed and just didn't see a difference, even in bloat. I would however like to try cyclic dextrin again intra workout and see if I can feel a difference in pump

Dextrose is glucose. You want liquid glucose, dissolve some in water...BAM!!!

Same. I don't overthink it now. Table sugar, Gatorade, banana, whatever.
