My wife is superstitious. Thinks if I don’t take my shoes off before coming in the house the floor will get dirty.

That's not a superstition. That's a fact. Plus we take shoes off to be more gentle on the wooden floors.

I always take note of black cats, ladders and mirrors. For some reason I get upset if a black cat crosses my path, and I won't walk under a ladder and yeah, I try not to break a mirror if I'm throwing it out. All that said, I really don't believe that any of that is going to cause anything, but for some reason I do it anyhow. Oh, I'm always knocking on wood also. On my boat, we have no wood on deck so I installed a wooded "knocking block."
