Today’s Day 5 of 10 on antibiotics. Pain levels haven’t decreased much. I’d rate it about a 4 out of 10. If I’m busy, I’ll forget I’m uncomfortable.

But it hasn’t improved and I’m waiting to hear from doctor this week on next steps, given such an inconclusive ultrasound.

Given I didn’t feel well and want to recover, I haven’t lifted in about two weeks now. I feel like a dumb lazy potato and that’s eating at me too.

Finally, at the end of June I’m supposed to hear back about some big personal stuff I’ve been agonizing over. So this whole week has felt like a sluggish home-imprisonment.
Good luck with feedback from the doctor, and with the personal things you're waiting for an update on.

Finished my antibiotics.
Very very very slowly the original side that hurt, my left, no longer bothers me as of yesterday.
My right side hurts gradually less over the last few days, now at a 3/10 rather than 4. 1/10 when I’ve taken 200mg of IBUPROFEN.

Doctor was supposed to call me back on Wednesday. I’ve now followed up for the fourth and last time. I’ll physically visit and bug them now for his opinion on my ultrasound and situation.

Only other things: I have less appetite, I’m sleepier, and have less stamina.

Glute is visibly inflamed. No more painful, not anymore swollen, just red as if coming to a head: slowly.

Got a Teladoc to give me 14 more days of antibiotic.

Revisited urgent care and saw a different doctor hoping he might do an incision and drain.

He was 50:50 split on cellulitis which would require only antibiotic. OR an abcess. Second urgent care doc came in and disagreed: no way could I have a massive abcess with no other symptoms or worsening by now.

Second doctor believes I have a Granuloma, a tissue growth in response to trauma and aggravation. He suggested scheduling a plastic surgeon to remove both masses, on both sides.

I explained: yeah. I’m misshaped and I’ll deal with that later. I want to treat my minor pain and and ensure I don’t have infection. They said just continue antibiotic and that they won’t attempt an incision as it could make the granuloma respond worse.

Seeing my primary care doctor on Thursday.
Hearing from a surgeon who will send me for more scans later this week.

My husband is really pushing now for me to cease all anabolics and injections. Which I understand. I’m trying to tell him that I’m using other sites and don’t want to PCT right now, but might PCT or at least go on Doctor TRT later this summer.

Admitted to ER.
Staying overnight until surgery tomorrow to likely drain and debride it. It was about 6 towels with of blood with initial incision. Horror movie.

Not great knowing my insurance deductible is about the first $6k.

Did the ER confirm what it is? Is it an actual abscess, or is it that mass that the other doctor referred to in your last update?

Love ya Ted , keep calm and don't let your anxiety get to you.

Ive had abcess drained its gross as fuck and a hall of a memory but you will be ok. Depending on how deep it is and how large they will have to pack it off so it heals from the inside out and not just scab over and fill back up.

I just found this so i'm behind on the prayers a few days but I got you.

It’s all fluid retention.

They’re draining two abbesses, installing drains on both sides today. Drains will likely be in place 4-6 weeks. Yay.

Right of passage , now ya got that out of the way and can say ya done it and give advice to the young'uns.(y)

In all honesty , we play stupid games , some times we win a stupid prize. Listen to the Docs and don't go for any heroics , that can only make things worse.

Rest up , blow the dust of the playstation or home pc and take over an MMO or what ever it is you like to do for a few weeks.

Well that's frustrating, considering you asked and 2 separate sets of doctors said it wasn't an abscess.

Hope you heal up fast man.

Cycling off, gonna PCT and accept that I’ll recomp a bit in a bad way.

Surgeon today inspected drains on both sides (I have two holes in each glute about a thumb-size). Drain tubes aren’t expected to be removed until at least the end of July.

I’m supposed to do minimal physical activity until about the middle of August.

It sucks realizing I peaked and didn’t even peak all that high. Gym journey is over, just downhill from here.

Why does it have to be over? If it's because you're swearing off steroids, then I hate to say the obvious but you don't need steroids to train or maintain diet.

It's only downhill from here if you let it be that way.

The fuck?

You had an abscess, not a broken back.

There's absolutely no reason why you can't heal for a few months and then get back to the gym.

Guys.

While I not dying or have a permanent injury, there’s enough life-things that made last week pretty frustrating.

I’m down 10lbs in water weight likely since the start of July when I had two large abcesses drained. One on each glute.

I haven’t pinned since June. I’m gonna try to PCT and see if my surgeon will refer me to an Endocrinologist so I can skip the visit to my useless PCP.

The fear of coming off gear, when I’m already mediocre, is scary. Especially as I’m also in recovery and gonna atrophy during this month or more without the gym.

It’s been 110°+ here all week. A few days at 116 and 117 respectively. Walking even causes me to bleed through my packing, bandages, and clothes.

So I’m fortunate to not be in pain or have any symptoms of recover beyond liquid craps and drains in both butt cheeks that leave blood wherever I sit or stand for too long.

I’m eating about as much as I did pre surgery, but avoiding desserts and sweets to prevent accumulating fat from being sedentary.

Today I opted to do a few sets of push ups without any glute issues. Beyond that, I’m not sure what else to do. I don’t have my car right now; it’s in the shop. So I’m truly stuck at home.

I could probably get some DBs to do raises, presses, and possibly flies with. But that’s all I’m likely to have for the next two weeks. Given I’ve already been out of the gym for nearly two weeks.

My immune system tanked fighting the abcesses I guess, so my back looks very cow-print. It’s a non-contagious skin condition brought on by hormonal changes and compromised immunity.

I’m getting a haircut and trim on Thursday. So hopefully I’ll look less raggedy.

Had to skip an out of town beach trip and a music festival, so summer plans are shot: I’m not able to swim or supposed to be in the sun or heat.
