So this past Sunday I blew i my Achilles. Was running some bases for my daughter’s softball team as they worked on situational fielding. As soon as I hit the jets it felt like I got hit in the back of the leg with a bat. I went down like a clown.

Since then I have met with 3 different orthopedic surgeons to way my options. I have elected not to have surgery. General consensus was the tear was high enough that it has a 90% chance of healing on its own. I won’t know for sure for another month. Downside is it doesn’t work and I have to have surgery anyway plus I wasted a month.

Good news now is I’m encouraged to walk around in my boot as much as I can handle. Starting Monday I can also go back to gym and do all the upper body my heart desires. Doctor told me in about 3 weeks I can start easing back into legs with light weight leg extensions and such.

So overall I’m taking it well and so far didn’t turn out as bad as I initially thought. Will keep thread updated as I progress.

I tore my Achille's.

For it to even have a chance of healing without surgery, the foot must be immobilized with the toes pointed forwarded for months.

Fuck that, just get the surgery, and get to recovery.

Mine was a mess, the surgeon likened it to a rope that exploded, loose strands everywhere.

There was nothing to sew together, they had to put a sleeve over both ends to reattach it. Think of a Chinese finger trap.

From my understanding it all depends on where the tear is. Just a few centimeters makes a big difference. Also the gap between tear comes into play.

2 of the 3 surgeons suggested I don’t have the surgery. They said i will recover much faster. I’m no doctor and i very well might be misled. But I am going to listen and find out. I just don’t wanna get hacked on if I don’t have to.

Do what you think is best for you. With that said being cut open is honestly not that big of a deal. Recovery is usually pretty fast from the surgeries I've experienced.

Holly shit dude that looks painful. I hope you recover fast. Every time I've seen torn Achilles it reminds me a child's play when he cuts them. Ouch

I'm a fan of surgeries, fetish I guess. Everytime I used bpc 157 and tb500 My recovery time is cut in half or more. Never really did shit that fixed injuries but it sure as fuck healed them fast after they were repaired.

I’ve had lots of surgeries. I’m prone to bad infections or ending u worse than I started. Now if I can avoid surgery I dig in and fight to the death 😂

It was or it wasn't a complete rupture? I don't see a complete rupture connecting itself back up.

I wouldn't take a chance and just let them fix it.

Was a complete rupture. Can figure out a way to connect the lengthy report if ya want. Not being sarcastic but will back up what I say if u r in doubt. Def not a winning cause either way.

Here….
FINDINGS:

Diffuse Achilles tendinopathy with complete rupture located approximately 10 cm above the calcaneal attachment.

The proximal fibers are only partially visualized. This is effectively full-thickness with surrounding hemorrhage and edema. Diffuseinterstitial fissuring extends distally as well with biconvex morphology. Diffuse edema in Kager's fat pad.

Tendon gap is approximately 3 cm. There could be additional proximalpartial retraction but tendon is visible on the first image of the axial images

You should try some BPC 156 with TB-500 supposed to really help with healing.

I have fixed a lot of Achilles tendons over the last 23 years. I can tell you this, if I had a ruptured Achilles tendon with a 3 cm gap I would not be treating it conservatively. For me that’s 100% surgical repair. if the tendon doesn’t heal with the ends approximated under physiologic tension, you’ll never be able to produce the force through your ankle that you could before the rupture. With all that being said, I wish you well and hope nothing but the best for you!

I hope you recover quickly and fully regardless of which path you take. You've made a lot of progress, and this won't stop you from making more in the long run.
