What cuisines do you think are overrated?

Which cuisines do you not understand the appeal of, and why?

Here are a couple that I just don't get:

Barbecue - I do not enjoy barbecue. For me it tends to be way too sweet and I'm not a fan of sweet meats. Ribs in general are not good at all to me. Poverty meat. I also think the side dishes tend to not be very good. Mac n cheese being one example. I know for a lot of people, this is what they think of when they think of American food.

My version of American food is cheeseburgers, which are of course amazing.


Italian - Italian food that doesn't involve tomatoes (I hate tomatoes) is fine to me but that limits my options.

Sound like u have only eaten that “yankee BBQ.” Pork and chicken are usually sweet. However, only a jackass eats any beef with a sweet sugary sauce.

That Middle East type cuisine is something I want no part of. Nothing about it looks appetizing to me.

That's entirely possible. I have only ever lived in Maryland.

However, only a jackass eats any beef with a sweet sugary sauce.

But even without the sugary sauce...I'm inclined to eat a steak or a burger before I'm inclined to eat brisket.

That Middle East type cuisine is something I want no part of. Nothing about it looks appetizing to me.

From what I've had so far, it's probably my favorite.

It's easier to avoid than cuisines like Italian or Mexican. I didn't have any Middle Eastern food until I was in my 20s.

Any dish besides wagu costing more than 100 USD
Puffer fish
Dog and cat meat.

Sounds like a typical east coast or northerner type of BBQ.

I will say this, contrary to NC and Kansas claiming they have the best... it's actually Texas that has the best barbecue. We're low and slow here, smokey, savory, and sometimes spicy
