42 yr old male, 198 lbs, 16% body fat, lifted on and off since high school but very consistent the last 3 years, diet is good (wife has high cholesterol so we eat with that in mind)

I’ve been on trt very low dose, 120mg per week, my test went from 425 to over 1100, noticed real improvement in basically every aspect of life.

Feeling stronger, more energetic, libido is through the roof, have put on about 4 lbs of muscle since starting with trt,

What do you guys think about the elevated levels? Started taking some milk thistle and turmeric since I got the results like 2 days ago.

I used to drink regularly that has definitely decreased dramatically since starting the trt to once every 12 to 14 days. Maybe 4 or 5 drinks.

I do use nicotine pouches.

I had the bloodwork done at 1pm, I did a max effort chest, traps and triceps workout at about 9am.

In previous blood tests before trt, I got them done when considering doing some test without a script and numbers were all in the normal range.

Thanks

Your Testosterone and Estradiol levels are fine, no worries. Both slightly elevated, but not a concern.

Your liver enzymes, creatinine, and BUN are more than likely elevated due to the fact that you worked out prior to the test. Exercise can and will do that.

Thanks I am really glad my test is higher. I feel much better.
Wish I would’ve had the consistency that I’ve had the last few years when I was younger.

Do you recommend that I get another test in the near future without working out prior or do you think three month window appropriate?

The doctor did increase to 160 mgs weekly

Your Dr INCREASED your dose?!?

Why? it's already high, and you're doing well.

I'm surprised he didn't drop it to 100mg.

Higher dose might mean you run into unwanted issues.

Yes from .3 to .4 twice a week.
We did have a mixup of me having bloods drawn at the same time as my appointment so she was just going off my statement of how I was feeling, she did say if anything was off on panel to stay at .3
I did .4 last injection but that was before I got results. I was gonna call Monday.

You recommend I stay at the .3, is that considered a high dose?

I definitely want to get bigger but I don’t want any real sides either.

Somehow I missed the line “surprised he didn’t drop it to 100mg”
what sides could be expected at the dose I’m at?

Potential.... Skin issues, libido issues, gyno, elevated bp, hair loss, water retention, elevated hematocrit, blood lipids, etc...

You're almost in "no man's land", which is where you're doing more than a normal dose so you possibly get side effects, but not using enough where you at least get the muscle gain.

For TRT your blood levels tell you if your dose is high or not. It isn't the amount of the injection. And since you are over a couple hundred point over of the top of the range your dose is high. If you want to be on a cycle, then it is low. With the increase in dose your E2 will likely go even higher which is not where i would want to be. What are your cholesterol levels like at those doses? There are guys that would be concerned about increases.

Good question, without looking at bloods.

I have enough test for a cycle of like 250-350 weekly for 16 weeks, I was hoping to see good results and then blast and cruise. I do have nolvadex on hand if was to do that.

Now that I’ve seen these numbers I wanna wait till I get my next test to see if numbers level out before doing an actual cycle.

Being on the trt long term it’s better to stay in normal range than slightly elevated test? That’s to avoid the sides you listed?

For some reason colesterol wasn’t checked… here are the names of all the labs they did.
Before any test my numbers were all perfectly normal for colesterol.IMG_6438.jpeg

Where you're at now is fine, it's a little hot for true TRT, but not ridiculous. I personally would stick where you are at for TRT. You're not going to gain any benefit from bumping up your dose.

Yeah, it sucks that he didn't order a lipids/cholesterol panel.

Thanks for the feedback and help, I will stay at the 120 mg/wk dose.
Should I go get my own lipids/cholesterol panel? Or just cholesterol?

my next appointment is January 6, would it be all right to wait till then for the test or should I do it before?

Add apoB to your lipid panel. It is a newer marker that some think is more important.

It's is higher than normal. Anything over 1 thousand is high, check your blood pressure and hemoglobin regularly at your age.

Hey guys thanks for the help. I went and got a some bloods drawn yesterday.
I didn’t do test again because I’m sure it’s around the same number but did cholesterol and lipids. Everything came back in on point, I guess it was working out in the morning. IMG_6465.pngIMG_6466.png

Yup, working out pre bloodwork will skew the numbers. Remember, too, that a blood test is just a snapshot of a single moment in time.

Save your bloodwork, get some done regularly, look for trends. Identify potential issues BEFORE they become a problem.
