It's not always stupidity as much as it is lack of interest.

Most people I know have zero interest in topics involving history. So they wouldn't care to learn in the first place things that should be common knowledge.

Native Americans didn't drink cows milk at the time , and as the stories go now , a Chief was believed to be poisoned and got "deathly" ill. When in reality , he was lactose intolerant.

Seems silly to look at through modern eyes.

Don't ask how I know. white snakeroot plant, if cows eat it it makes their milk poisonous, it's called milk sickness.
