Well my step dad went out to the job site today and they were pouring concrete!!! Now to let that cure for a couple weeks and then hopefully the building should start going up.

The Mrs said the finish is pretty smooth. Fortunately, temperatures were in the 60s when they poured so they had plenty of time to work it before it flashed.

So the building is going up and should be completed this week. The guy that is putting it up said that our building is currently going for 60% more than what we got it for. With the markets how they are we should have a good deal of extra equity that we weren't planning for. Also, lumber has yet to come down at the stores even though futures have been falling. My plan for this is to get my utilities in place which will require a 700' ditch for gas and water and then like 50' for my electrical.

After that, I will just buy lumber in small quantities, enough to get a couple days work done, in order to try and catch at least some savings in the event lumber comes back down on the retail side.

Glad this thread got bumped. Build looks great so far. 15 acres of privacy is just pure bliss.

Being a 1 man show, it’s coming along really slow. Have all but 2 walls for the firs floor done and I want to have the bathtub on hand for those.

Started going up with the floor joists with the help of my son yesterday. Leave for 4 weeks tomorrow for work abut I got my windows ordered.

Shit can be tough and slow trying to build a house solo.
Been there, done that... burnt the tee shirt and I need therapy.

Things are looking great man
You're cutting in the windows at a later date?
Brickmold or inset?

Are the TJIs spanning the entire width of the building? What size are they?

Killer project man. Eventually my wife and I want to do the same. Im wanting to do a shop then build like a mother in-law apartment/loft since it will just be the wife and I. I want this place to be completely off the grid and in the middle of fucking nowhere so far out trespassers will be shot on site and used for compost in the garden lol. I’m curious if you don’t mind me asking how much property are you on?
