There was training gold written here recently, I don't remember who said this. Very smart advice, enlightened me.
To paraphrase, don't try to cram balance within a specific program, instead, seek balance through periodization.
Beautiful. We all want to get bigger, get stronger, get leaner, improve our 1 rep maxes, grow our arms, improve mobility and be conditioned to face anything. But if we try to do it all at once, we'll spin our wheels and burn out. Instead, take a block of time, 6-12 weeks, and hammer on one aspect while maintaining (or even shelving) other aspects. Balance in training doesn't occur over a workout, or over the week's workouts. Balance should come over the year(s). Play the long game.
Again, props who brought this up in another thread, I can't claim this advice as mine, but I can share it as smart advice.
Happy new year all, get better this year!
