Most of us have seen videos of people passing out during a deadlift set.A few words about using lifting hooks for DL. That's a bad idea and I'll tell you why from experience. If you're pushing your DL as you should be and you have to bail, that's not so easy when you have those hooks locked onto you. With straps, you can just let the weight go.
Don't use hooks for DL.
I use figure 8 straps when I have to, same problem.Most of us have seen videos of people passing out during a deadlift set.
Many of us have actually had it happen to us.
Imagine having a vasovagal response with a loaded bar hooked to your wrists.
They let go as soon as you open your hands.Watching video of how to use the straps, it does not seem like they will let go quickly. But I guess it's better than being hooked.
Make sure to practice with light weight, not strapped correctly can be an issue.Watching video of how to use the straps, it does not seem like they will let go quickly. But I guess it's better than being hooked.
Lifting straps == MAGIC !!
Thanks very much guys, a super well spent $13 solved the issue completely.
I'm finding my progression on dead lifts is being hindered not because of my body, but because my grip gives out ... Is there a trick or do I just need to wait for my forearms to get bigger?
