How does GoodRx work?

I'm new to all this, so sorry if I sound dumb. I'd like to know exactly how does Goodrx work? Do I go to a general practitioner, show them my current prescription from my trt clinic, ask them if they can write me a prescription for it, and then I take that prescription and purchase my test through goodrx?

With goodrx when you HAVE a prescription and you go to get it filled at a pharmacy you can see if it’s cheaper thru goodrx vs your insurance. Download the app and you can check stores/pharmacies nearby for the cheapest price.

When I see my doctors I tell them to hand write me a prescription so I can find the cheapest option.
